Coz this SD brand want push their car as new benchmark price for korea car, suddenly Forte come in so cheap price, really spoilt the whole market, only benefit to consumer. And very important is, Gurun site not ready produce Forte and it may become 1 of the reason block by Kustam where Naza Forte is local brand with local price!!!

Remember Sime Darby also has a lot of say in this matter. I believe they are quite unhappy about Forte's 2.0 pricing as they are now offering free body kit for the I30. If don't want the body kit, they are selling their car for RM92,888. However, the Forte is still a better buy.

Another of their stable is the Ford Focus. They are selling pre-registered units with only 200km milage for RM97k OTR. I was tempted to ditch the Forte for this until I read the Ford Fan club(FOMEC) that spare part will kill you alone. It seems like to change an engine mounting is RM900 each.

So SD is trying hard to beat the Forte but I think people will still go for value for money which is the 2.0 forte.

The funny thing is that UMW is unlikely to complain because when they offered the 2009 Altis 1.8E with free insurance, all finish selling like hot cakes. Looks like in Malaysia the Japs don't feel threatened yet by Kia.

The other fun spoiler is probably our Proton as I think like what Autoworld said, the Forte represents an affordable upgrade for present Waja drivers.

Yup Avante can maybe cos Sime Darby? ... Avante not so attractive, no 6 air bags, EPS, ESC, 6 CD changer, etc

Add 20K to Mazda3 1.6 (RM113,500) and u get mazda3 2.0 for RM133,900. You'll get different engine, 1 extra gear plus paddle shift, add autoclimate, foldable mirror with signal, 17 inch rims instead of 15, autosensor light and wiper, xenon light instead of HD.

Add XXk to Forte 1.6SX and you get Forte 2.0SX for RMYYY,YYY. You'll get theta II engine, leather seats, auto cruise, and ? foldable mirror.

Currently XX is around 12K. If A scenario ... is XX going up to 20K like mazda3.

Anyone have any idea where in KL can get this UV protection solution 303 Aerospace Protectant ( http://www.303products.com/ ) Its among the best UV protection for head and tail lights and also the plastic and rubber parts.

Spectra headlight is RM400 each (ori) ... i think Forte will cost at least RM800 ... so better protect the headlights from UV if possible.

I guess is not the problem with Jap car but affected to their Perdana sales badly.

Avante not like Forte. Forte esp 2.0 come with very-very good features.
Can say that Avante sales not affected Perdana sales before. Now they just wake up.

Please consider carefully about the Avante. I was so tempted to buy it but really the engine feels sluggish and the roar is quite obvious. I tested the Avante and I30 1.6 back to back and the I30 has better refinement. However, I find the car sluggish as well but the handling is nicer than the Avante. Between the Forte 1.6sx and I30, again the Forte is better value for money.

Have you guys got any other alternatives if scenario a happens?

Downgrade to 1.6sx from 2.0?

Get an I30?

Bite the bullet and buy a Ford Focus?

I like the mazda 3 like crazy but at RM116k I must be crazy to let the govt tax me somemore.

Swallow my pride and wait for the Waja replacement? (For this option I would rather have my tonsils removed)

Buy the Perodua Alza and die of embarrassment when Jeremy Clarkson blows it up like the Kelisa?

But then how can NAZA lose to SD and the rest? They have very strong backing also ma. King of AP we're talking about here.
