The Latest Waja, The Waja CPS
user posted image

The long-awaited Proton Campro CPS engine is now available in Malaysia (it was first introduced in Bangkok last year) with the Waja 1.6 Premium being the first model to have it. For those who are not familiar with this engine, it incorporates Cam Profile Switching (which is where the ‘CPS’ comes from), a mechanism which varies intake valve timing to enhance performance throughout the rpm range. The mechanism was developed by Lotus Engineering, a subsidiary of Proton.

Additionally, the Campro CPS engine also has a Variable Intake Manifold (VIM) which optimises the intake airflow volume according to driving conditions and is especially helpful in boosting torque at the low end. The VIM is a more sophisticated version of the Intake Air-fuel Module (IAFM) used in the Campro 1.3-litre engine of the new Saga.

user posted image
The maximum power output of the new Campro 1.6 CPS engine is 125 bhp (about 92 kW), 13% more than the 110 bhp on the non-CPS/VIM Campro engine. The new engine, in addition to providing smooth and responsive drivability, is said to be environment-friendly and complies with the latest European emission regulations.

With the CPS mechanism, Proton claims that the new Waja offers significant improvement in terms of drivability with maximum torque now increased to 150Nm. More importantly, the criticism of non-CPS engine that was first launched with the Gen2 – poor low-end torque – is now claimed to be addressed and Proton states that there is ‘better response and torque launch at low engine speeds of between 2000 - 2500 rpm when driving in the city’. During highway driving, it is also claimed that there will be better overtaking performance in the third, fourth and fifth gears within the 2,500 - 4,500 rpm engine speed range. The new Waja is available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

There are also changes to the interior design of the model to add further value to customers. The model now comes with electric remote door mirror with electric folding housing, front seat with 3-way adjustable head rest (up, down and tilt), gated auto gear shifter (for automatic transmission), new centre panel switches and finishing, as well as a keyless trunk remote system, ABS, fog lamps, alloy rims and leather upholstery as standard.

Other additional features include xenon headlamps auto-levelling (so that other motorists are not dazzled), dual tailpipes, UV-cut windscreen glass and a ‘Euro-compliant body structure’.

"Proton is striving to improve ourselves in every aspect, particularly in terms of product offerings. With that in mind, we felt it was time the Waja evolved as well. The time is right for this change and I'm optimistic the market will receive this new model in a positive manner," said Proton MD, Dato' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.

wah sam, you really wanna do that twin pipe on both sides ah? initially I also wanted to do, but kent told me if do both working wan will lose power wor, so I just change tail pipe.  biggrin.gif  nice ah the tail pipe?
*
heard that using twin pipe will lost power aswell but you can just put the twin pipe/tip for cosmetic purposes which your exhaust piping never touch on it. If you just use one pipe , then one side might be shiny and another side dark.
Danny , your tail pipe is very nice. smile.gif Actually do we need to re-fiber our muffler as we have used the car for so many years?

Please let me know if you guys want me to get for you. Besides that , for those who want the Signal indicator on side mirror , I found one product which sticks on our original side mirror , price @ Rm75.00 only.

I'll upload the picture later on.

Since xin mentioned that he could get at Rm20.00 for original item , i strongly suggest you guys go there buy as the one selling here is replica stuff.

About the side mirror indicator , it's quite hard to explain. You guys seen Chrome cover for Side mirror before right ? It comes like that except that below the chrome cover got signal indicator.

Xin : possible to ask how much is the monochrome badge for waja ?

Danny , so what did kent said about your exhaust system on saturday and any differences after the meet-up ?
Did he reinstall the cat-con back for you ? As he claim removing it will damage your gearbox.

Yup.. That's what my mech used to told me that all ballast is a same, only change bulb can use ady.. U wanna change HID on your foglight or headlamp?
*
The beam of the foglight definitely able to adjust. Adjusted mine few times already. smile.gif

Squareballs : Full black rims definitely looks great as it looks like track cars rim. Even dirty also not scare. Personal preference wise , i prefer white color especially on P1 rim. drool.gif Or maybe silver/chrome color for classy look.

Put your hand underneath your bumper to the fog lamp area, then try to find a plastic in gear shape or in white color. Adjust just by simply turning left or right of the gear shape plastic. biggrin.gif hope it helps

Guys , anyone interested in getting your Throttle Body , Combustion Valve cleaned without dismantle alot of parts that will lead to headache while installing back ?
I stumble upon a product " ThreeBond Engine Conditioner " that sold by " ThunderGod_Cid " here in Lowyat.net and I thought of giving it a try as the product seems pretty convincing although there's not much review around.

The price is not expensive at all , online retail for RM35 and bulk price @ RM30.00 - at least it's much more affordable than sending your Throttle body to clean which cost you around 50-80 bucks.

Seller agreed to cod in Sunway and said that although he might doesn't have the time to clean all of the engine but he can show you how to do it and you guys just follow the instructions. Date will most probably around March , together or before the Steering/Exhaust. smile.gif

Below is the picture of the actual product. ( click on the spoiler for more photos and introduction )

Bulk for ThreeBond Engine Conditioner. [ Price @ RM30.00 ] [ Location - Sunway ] [ Date - around March ]
Interested party please leave down your name in the list below. ( we need at least 5 unit to get thirty ringgit per unit )

5)

Thank you!

Update : ThreeBond Engine Conditioner on the other word , same like Dcarbo with minus the risk of your engine being Hydrolock , Smelly petrol fumes and Foul Spark Plug. With simply the three thing I mentioned above , I dont think you guys should have any doubt on them. smile.gif Oh wait , did I mentioned that it's cheaper than Dcarbo too ?

@Andy would 1 be enough for each car? I saw this item too and it got me interested. smile.gif
*
I think 1 unit will be enough as we'll need to spray the whole can into the Throttle Body there. Much much more cost saving in the long run compare to Dcarbo. Just put in your name there and have your car ThreeBonded. nod.gif

but itsn't it better to clean in that way? dismantling it all and clean it manually.
wanna know more before getting this
*
It might be better sending to workshop to dismantle and clean the Throttle body manually , but it takes time and pricing wise as I mentioned before , around 50 to 80 to clean manually.

It's your choice afterall. Another benefits of Threebond is that it also cleans the Combustion Chamber without the need to dismantle the valve cover. smile.gif

Anyway , I really like the design of Zenden strut bar. Looks awesome but too bad Kent doesn't want to do our business anymore. sad.gif Do post out a picture of your engine bay with the strut bar yea. smile.gif

Update : Remember to drag " yngwie " into the bulk for Threebond too. He must get two units somemore. One for his Altezza and another for his Waja. laugh.gif

I'm very afraid that it might give some side effects
actually kent he okay wan la...want me try help you ask? i guess he will do my business gua, we'll then privately trade lo
*
Threebond is in water/foam based instead of oil based if compare with Dcarbo thus I dont think you should be too worry about it.

Even when you change your engine oil , some of them might have stronger detergents that might makes those carbon deposits to loose and clog up your sensor and etc. As long as it wont give big trouble , it's all right , aye ? smile.gif

"
Danny , no need to ask and deal like that one. biggrin.gif Tai and Nicholas , want to get Zenden strut bar from kent together ? brows.gif

alright, makes some sense...i shall try it then
put me in the list
mine is 2 point
actually kent told me that zenden is using aluminium unlike UR using steal only. if you take UR and sell to the scrap metal shop, you only get like RM1? He've shown me some website somebody's UR broken before, kinda scary, although they do provide lifetime warranty, but so does zenden. UR is just a branded stuff.
bare in mind im not helping him or anyone else promoting here.
*
From what I heard , Zenden has stop production or maybe closed down and change their name to Ctech due to unknown circumstances. I saw those picture of UR bar bending too , but if you go to their UR website , they're saying that their UR bar are absorbing the impant of the accident without damaging your Chassis tower.

Have a look here : http://www.ultraracing.com.my/template.asp?menuid=29

you're up early tongue.gif
hmm. there's another brand of struts called Ctech selling in auto garage here. duno how much issit. ehh show us pics of your strut bars lehh. tongue.gif poison others here abit so maybe we can get discount haha

edit: okay i'm convinced that zenden would be a better buy than UR. lol. just did some reading up.
*
Let's see if Tai want to get along. brows.gif

Wah... I send my car to workshop.. He clean my TB for RM20 only. Hahahaha... Take it out manually, clean it and ask him to wash and wash and wash. after that woohooo... took 1 hour plus only what.. cleaning TB is not a big deal i guess...
*
You're pretty lucky to get such price. I got quote for cleaning the Throttle body for around 50 to 80 here in Ipoh.
Actually you can trust those who charged you twenty bucks one eh ?

That's pretty normal for 4G18 considering the 17" rims. I'm getting 60km per ten ringgit , so around 120km for twenty ringgit.
