No, the sensor located on the bottom right corner, below the third right LED.

Refer to the pic attached, try to cover that area with hand in bright ambient...you will see the LCD brightness level change.
You may go to Advanced Video Setting, under Backlight Pro or something to see the actual light level and adjust brightness level.

they're speaking about the IR sensor bro.

I have just gotten the Toshiba 55ZV600E and a Philips Blu Ray 2500 player a couple of weeks ago. Watching blu ray discs with them are great but have noticed a problem on and off while watching the movies - the TV screen and the BD player will go off for a second by itself and then come back on.

Initially I thought there was a problem with the blu ray disc as I then rewind the part where the TV went blank but everthing is ok. The part where I miss when the TV & Blu ray player went off is there and plays smoothly again.

This incident happened a few times on a few different discs - does anyone know what is wrong?

It could not be the TV as the TV did not experiece the same thing when I am watching Astro or DVD movies in my DVD player. I am not sure whether it is my Philips BD player but it is new...could it be the HDMI cable as it is the only cable that connects the TV to the BD player? But that cable is also new as it comes with the Philips BD player when I bought them recently...

Darenlks & anfieldude - any idea what is wrong?

if both the TV and BD goes off simultaneously, it sounds like a power problem. maybe the plug/power socket to the TV and BD has a problem?

Sounds like a HDMI handshake problem. Might need to set some settings correctly if it continues to happen. Turn Deep Colour off. Try another cable. Else somewhere along the line there is a HDCP/HDMI negotiation error.

1st thing to try would be to change another HDMI cable. Then change the settings in the BD player (try different video settings etc....)

Thanks for the advice guys!

I think the power socket is not the issue as I had checked them just now and they look fine. The TV and BD player use 2 separate sockets and they look ok as the rest of the electrical appliances also connected to these 2 sockets work well without any intermediate cut off.

I supposed I would change to a new HDMI cable as anfieldude suggests and see how it goes... hopefully the problem will go away!

in Shah Alam but with price 3800 (with transport), maybe u can get cheaper if u find it in Puchong/Kepong.

I think this one is better than Samsung LCD 40C650 . especially in term of PQ and sound ( altough i think 40C650 has richer features ).

last time i was connect my laptop to my TV, also no sound, untill now also no time to test after got my Media player.
I think it will not like DVD player, just plug and play because computer run video and audio in different output.

So if your desktop got HDMI port, you may try this. ( since your video is fine now, no need to do anything on video )

Configuring audio for HDMI
To configure HDMI audio, first connect an audio or video device, such as a high-definition TV, to the
HDMI port on your computer. Then configure the default audio playback device as follows:
1. Right-click the Speakers icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then click
Playback devices.
2. On the Playback tab, click either Digital Output or Digital Output Device (HDMI).
3. Click Set Default, and then click OK.

To return audio to the computer speakers, follow these steps:
1. Right-click the Speakers icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then click
Playback devices.
2. On the Playback tab, click Speakers.
3. Click Set Default, and then click OK.

Based on user manual (pg 34), you need to connect to HDMI1 port of your TV for PC audio

In user menu, go to SETUP > AV Connection, you will see the setting for PC/HDMI1. Select "PC" for the audio input.

Then you may need another audio cable to connect directly from your PC to the PC/HDMI1 Audio port at the back of the tv

I guess since the OS was just started to boot up where your PC display card driver has yet to be loaded and fully running, there won't be any signal sending to the TV. That's could be why you could only see it when windows booted up and all drivers and system files were running during windows startup.
