Normally in UK, most of the degree level would spent about 3 years to complete the entire program with honours statue.
Although that Australia was a great places to study as it provide a good environment but what are a downfall would be the duration to get the honours which normally require to spend 4 years instead of 3.
Do the maths, additional year to study in oversea require quite a lot of money compared to 3 years including living cost, tuition fee and other..
I know, three years of study in Australia will let you to obtain a degree without honours but let's face the world. Nowadays the company normally will hire someone who has a honours instead of non honours.

So, what should I do then, studying in Australia was my biggest wish but the education system really meake me kinda frustrated. sad.gif

to be honest, i don't see any company(IT industry) will choose honours instead of non honours...you have honours but not real world experience = put at the side first

please note that there is a difference between what honours means in different places.....in uk, it is a measure of how well you did......

in oz, with 3 year programmes, it is an extra year of study, but you have to be INVITED to do the honours year, you cannot otherwise 'volunteer'.....(the honours in a 4 or more year programme however works the same way as in uk)......

in uk therefore, a good honours will get you some advantage in getting jobs.....

in oz, an honours attached to a 3 year degree qualification suggest one is on the way to postgraduate studies, and possibly academia......that is all....

there's a difference in what Honours mean in the UK and in Aussie.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/977667
In Australia unless your looking to go onto Postgraduate studies in research one don't usually do Honours and they would have to be invited by the University even if they wanted to. Only the tops of the batch would be invited for the Honours programme and a good number of this people usually would go on seeking a life in academia.
Companies in Malaysia generally knows that Aussie's 3 year programmes doesn't come with Honours and treated the same as their counterpart with Honours. The Degree is just to get you in the door for an interview anyway.

Wow, that's nice! A little off topic, but may I know how you guys or girls look for a job? Do you:

-*just* apply through websites?
-apply through contacts (ie. friend's recommendation)?
-run around places asking if they have vacancies?
