Yeah. Error can happen even on digital, but only happens if the cable is not up to spec.

Yes, any errors of digital data will be noticed very easily. Complete nonsense on the screen.

1. anyone have tried splitting the HDMI output from the astro decoder? The reason is that I plan to split one to TV and one to my home theather.. any loss of signal ? any idea for good splitter and cost?

2. If do split into two and set the astro decoder audio to dolby digital only, would there be sound coming from my TV as TV usually doesnt have the software to decode?

1. Theorically, splitting will work if the TV, HT AVR and decoder are in same room. Magic word here is that the splitter, TV and AVR must support HDCP.

Why would you want to do that, tho? Most people just connect their TV to AVR HDMI out and byond to one of the AVR's HDMI In (let the AVR double as a HDMI switch) or connect HDMI to TV and SPDIF coaxial to AVR.

2. no, TV won't have sound if you send DD5.1 signal through HDMI and TV doesn't have DD support. This is already very clearly outlined in Astro byond v2 thread.

1. the reason to split the HDMI are;
a. do not have to switch AVR everytime watch Astro.
b. my current setup is hdmi out into AVR ( video stream 1080i) and using component cable(red, blue green cables) into TV only stream 576i. I tried HMDI direct to TV and vidoe stream is 1080i.

astro byond thread is very useful to byonders...please refer there..tq

Sometimes it's not the cable that is at fault. There is a possiblity that the HDMI port could be faulty.
