Memtest for Windows, most of the RAM gone tongue.gif
*
Other than Memtest,cannot get other applications which can use up the RAM? Sad case is P4 is not that powerful,else we can do hyper-thread job like decode/encode + gaming at the same time.

QUOTE(dlwl @ Mar 17 2010, 01:08 PM)
guys, those who are using windows 7 now, what's your rating for the processor?
my friend's P4 3.0 only got 1.8 for processor rating sad.gif

the rest of the scores are ok, around 3+. it couldn't be that bad rite?
*
I think this is a bit low.Refer to my post previously.

If encoding, it depends on how big the output and resolution it will be
The bigger more RAM used up, same with video playback

@ray & exuar,
thanks for the reply. what could be the problem? the only thing i know is that his internals are quite dusty, but does that really effect the performance until this extend?
my friend is also using 1.5GB. seems quite ok to me, but he tells me that if open more than 3-4tabs on safari it'll start to lag. if i'm not mistaken safari is quite a ram hogger isn't it?

Your P4 dusty make your proc throttle in speed? Suggest you to clean up your rig asap.

I think Safari isn't a very popular explorer for users. Firefox and Google Chrome / Plus versions works preety well with old school.

yes, brand new mobo. got 3 choices for 478, which is 915, 865, and SiS. I took 865 due to AGP interface. 915 uses PCIE.

Google Chrome currently is the fastest browser and is not a memory hogger like Firefox

No choice have to stick back unless let go the rest of the parts. Edmin,why are you still keeping the old school? Thought you have a new quad core?

I have a question... What is the optimal CPU temperature of P4 3.0?

As per image, I used HWMonitor but it says there Diode 1, Diode 2 and Internal... Which one is actually my CPU's temperature?

Thanks in advance...smile.gif

not mine, helping out a friend that's not willing to move on! i m still with my s775 quaddy, pushing it to the limits, lol. the connections/expansions on ond off the P35 mobo are fully utilised.

4x SATA = all used by 1Tb x4
2x IDE = 300GB PATA + DVDRW ROM
2x PCIE = Xfi + 260GTX
3xPCI = 1 PCI wifi card
6x USB = Keyboard, BT, 250GB USB external x2, XBOX360 joypad, SDHC card reader, 1 6-port USB hub.

Fully loaded, yo! doh.gif
