Unfortunately, this reviewer seems to hate anything that is less than happy ending. Plus he did remarked that Katanagatari might be better as anime instead of novel.

Just because Bakemonogatari is quite good doesn't mean that Katanagatari will be awesome. I'll keep my finger crossed.

Define good. As I said above this is a different species altogether. Bakemonogatari is about all the cliches, and Nisio Isin using that with his dry humour and spliced it with a supernatural story. Katanagatari is more of a historical setting, and does not have Bakemonogatari's tounge in cheek reference to the Otakuism culture

I still don't understand why Bakemonogatari is very nice anime that all the people now focus on Katanagatari?!

Good = Interesting + Good Plot

Bakemonogatari is somewhat interesting with quite good plot just because I never heard of any myth related to monkey. Other myth I have heard so to provide me with new input is a good thing itself. Anyway all in all Bakemonogatari is just quite good for me [6.5/10] because all of its 'mystery' is nothing more of a word play. Plus, a character like Hitagi is already exist before such as Shinrabanshou in Kimi Aruji [h-game, not anime because anime is too short so not enough time to display her full character].

Indeed. You need to realise that all the characters in Bakemonogatari are cliche'd, taken from other animes/series. That's the whole point of bakemonogatari actually, to make fun of the moefied and cliche'd world of anime/manga now. In terms of characters, it sucks. But I do like the interaction between the characters.

Bakemonogatari was great for its fantastic dialogue and chemistry between characters. IMO, its the voice actors who really worked the miracle for Bakemonogatari. Katanagatari looks promising on a slightly different note.

Bakemono had little to no animation at all. What really drove it forward was the story. Katanagatari is a classic shonen adventure, with classic tropes. Boy meets girl, boy fights ninja, girl convinces boy to help her find 12 swords. Simple, linear (for now, at least), great action. Basically a formula that works. That being said, it also features Nisioisin's witty dialogue and snarky humor - a rarity even among seinen anime. Character designs are flat, elegant but animated with good flow and style.

I'm not saying Katana is any better than Bakemono, but before anyone out there yaps away about it without even having a clue wtf they're talking about, I'm going to give you an advice that was once given to me: if you don't understand it, you need to watch more anime.

i think i've seen more Bakemonogatari compare to katanagatari words here. haha. eps 3 are boring!
