Looks like Nik is back in training. We should be able to handle the games with our current strike force until late Jan where the crunchers come in, so Nik will have 3 weeks to get himself fit and ready.

'Nicklas is doing well in training, had a good session today, and the news is quite good. He'll join in with the first-team next week. His fitness is not too bad, actually, because he has worked hard. He can do the job [as a central striker], even if he's a different type of player to Van Persie. But it gives me a few options in there.'

And with Arsene ruling out Chamakh in Jan as expected, we're probably not going to sign someone up front. It's all good, as we have other areas eg defensive backup which require more attention. We can afford to wait for Chamakh until summer, and if he does come for free then we can show Bordeaux who's boss.
QUOTE
Wenger believes that the striker's options are still open but he is not pursuing Chamakh at the moment.
"Chamakh is still available for the summer," said the Arsenal manager.
"We have not met his agent and not spoken about it.
"He is a player we have an interest in, but we are focused on short term at the moment."
