Gazidis: We won't spend big
SOS Generally, I like what I'm hearing. And instead of a new immediate first teamer, most likely we'll see a backup or two coming in before the window closes. I find not going crazy with expenditure is very respectable. |

QUOTE(RyanAtwood @ Jan 8 2010, 04:53 PM) Ivan Gazidis: Arsenal unlikely to spend big 31M on a single player? We're not getting him. And it'd be foolish to exchange our playmaker, our heartbeat for yet another striker which we already have in abundance. Spanish tabloids can just GTFO.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Source Gonzalo Higuain??31 million???i'd say he is worth every penny!!!hehehe....daydreaming 4 a while..... QUOTE(joe405 @ Jan 8 2010, 05:26 PM) The video shows nothing special about him apart from his monster height. Cheap, unknown, African with power and pace... sounds like someone that Arsene would like. QUOTE(leymar7 @ Jan 8 2010, 05:28 PM) Havard Nordveit. Long way to go for the boy... he's in the loaning phase of our youngsters, and then he'll slowly feature in the CC before making the grade onto our bench as with our previous kids. The latest news is about a possible return for Sol. Personally I think the more important issue is to nail down Willy's contract extension, but Sol would be a good backup for CB since Sendy is frozen out. That is provided that Sol doesn't suffer from another brain freeze and walks out on yet another club like he did with us and Notts County. Lacina Traore? Never heard of him but his height and pace is enough to attract Wenger. Remember, Adebayor was a nobody before joining Arsenal and we made him what he is today. So it would be nice to have a tall player in our miniature sized team.
But, any player that is publicly linked with us never arrived. Most of the time, we'd quietly snap up players. I think its a tactic by agents of these players to publicly declare Arsenal is interested in so and so player and the price would automatically shoot up. And whats with these price tag of 36 million pound? Historically, we've never purchased such mega priced players. I doubt we'd ever splashed this amount of money on a player anytime soon and especially this transfer window. We'd prolly get someone not very famous. |

maybe that sums it up, what we need = backup striker
a decent one, and preferably not cup tied what ivan gazidis mentioned we wont spend big = my guess is that we will invest say around at most 10-15mill on this transfer and knowing AW, this african traore guy is a potential candidate. |

Two of tomorrow's games are already postponed, including the game at Craven Cottage.
Yahoo weather says there's a 60% chance of snow at the Emirates tomorrow. I don't know how far away is the Cottage to Ashburton Grove, but all these don't sound good at all. Need to watch my gunners play! |

Good news is Wenger condemns the postponements as they kinda break our stride. I bet he's eager to get tomorrow's game going.
And in the same article, he also said that RvP is like 2 weeks away from returning. sos This post has been edited by meaj: Jan 8 2010, 11:27 PM |
