QUOTE(joe405 @ Jan 6 2010, 03:52 PM)
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to play Denilson in Alex Song's defensive midfield role. Song is now with Cameroon for the African Nations Cup this month.

Denilson is fit again following a back problem, and Wenger has no doubts the young Brazilian is up to the challenge.

"Denilson is an all-rounder, but he can play in this position and will come in for Song," said the Arsenal boss.

"He is very strong in reading the game and winning the ball back.

"Denilson has 150 games in the Premier League. People do not notice how important he is for us and he
can play in every single position in midfield."

Nothing has been confirmed regarding Carlton Cole, in fact everything up till now has been tabloid hoohah. I'm not convinced that Cole will be our signing. Good player perhaps, but what is working against him is (1)his scoring record hasn't been outstanding until this half season (2) English = $$$ as 9M is too much for a player who's likely to be short term replacement (3) Jay Simpson is coming up the ranks and is a similar type of player (4)Not necessarily suit Wengerball.

If we were to get players in the similar mould, Defoe (more prolific scorer) or Kalou (more versatile) would suit our team more; but Defoe is unlikely to be on sale while Chelsea already rejected us for Kalou last season.

Denilson is a totally different player from Flamini. Critics often bash Denilson for not being physically strong enough, sure enough the lad ain't huge like Baptista but he makes it up for perfectly timed interceptions and positioning. You will never see Denilson tackling like a mad dog in the sense of Flamini or Cana, but if you have been following Denilson's progress you will see that he is now quite aggressive in his tackles, often nipping the ankles and not easily shoved around.

No matter who the prospect is, I feel really excited when Arsenal is signing some one.
The feel is just different because apart from the reason they seldom buy, we know that
the signing will be a real quality.

Arsenal spotting prowess is legendary.
In England, there is even a rule of thumb (Forgot which website I read that give good analysis) :

To scout for great talents, just follow Arsenal's scouts. rclxms.gif

Bobby Zamora sure is a great addition if he comes in.

It will be a great help if Arsenal can sign some one who can finish clinically in front of goals.
Type of striker like Drogba, Torres, Tevez or Rooney.
What I mean is that when he is one on one with a goalie, you can always bet with confident it is a goal.
Honestly, when Ade still with Arsenal, this is not the case. doh.gif
I always nervous whether Ade can finish it or not.

Our main three rivals have this kind of striker. I saw many instances that these player made the differences between winning and losing.

For now, with RVP out we only have AA who from my opinion who can take chances properly.
Not that the other Arsenal players are not good, but goal opportunity comes in split second.
We need everyone to step up.
Cheers. rclxm9.gif
