QUOTE(leymar7 @ Jan 3 2010, 12:06 AM) Huntelaar? Thanks but no thanks. Good news for me IMO. Reason is simple. If we were still on the 4-4-2 formation I'd snap him up in a heartbeat. However our current 4-3-3 and style does not suit him at all. If we were to buy a striker it would have to be someone in the RVP mould as well. We need someone who can drop deep with a first touch and ball retention skills as good as RVP. A striker that can play in teammates as good as RVP does as well as someone quick enough who can keep up with our attacking midfielders to join in the attack after releasing the balls from deep. Don't get me wrong I do still rate Huntelaar as one of the best finishers around but he just simply won't fit in. Its no coincidence that Arsene still persists with Andrey down the middle even with Dudu fit. This post has been edited by sigheart: Jan 3 2010, 12:26 AM

Silvestre Lol anyways I can't say I'm too bothered even if we join Man Utd in the FA Cup bin. Well of course I want us to win just that I don't think I'll be losing any sleep over this one if we get knocked out.

QUOTE(toshio14 @ Jan 4 2010, 01:08 AM) FA cup is a knock out competition i.e. no home and away. only have is the match ended in draw resulting in a replay match Billy Gallas played Diamanti onside for their goal. our striker need to start shooting, and i mean really shooting. asyik sepak tak kena betul saja If anything Silves was more at fault IMO. That was very very lazy defending there. He had two options then which was 1. Deal with Diamanti or 2. The lazy option of just pushing up in hope the flag will go up and unfortunately he chose option 2.

Sigh chances of a LIVE telecast for the Bolton match looks very slim indeed IMO. I've got Astro Byond in my house and one of the new features is we can check programme information as well as future programmes for the whole month and it isn't listed. They will be showing a football match but its a repeat of an FA Cup game. Even in Sportscentre it doesn't state there is a LIVE telecast.
Guess streaming is the only option then for those who want to catch the game.

QUOTE(faizfluff @ Jan 7 2010, 08:37 AM) Well it may be blessing in disguise. We can play Bolton later with all our players fit and available. Yes but we can also play Bolton later when they've got new manager syndrome as well as with FA Cup and Champions League games to juggle at the same time. The match postponement is an opportunity missed to get a perfectly winnable game out of the way in my book. This post has been edited by sigheart: Jan 7 2010, 04:25 PM

QUOTE(Quick` @ Jan 7 2010, 07:11 PM) interesting our ex captain confirmed move to city and we are linked to a 6'6 striker Lacina Traore SoS, soccernet 6'6,big men.....perhaps just what we need Oh great. If we buy him and he plays well enough we'll be losing him every 2 years for a month or so to a useless cup which frankly nobody cares but the africans =/ This post has been edited by sigheart: Jan 7 2010, 07:53 PM

QUOTE(arcaloveher @ Jan 10 2010, 01:03 AM) why Diaby playing like snail today only make 1 vital clearance What about his run and assist for Tomas' equaliser ? Or you only choose to remember his faults and not his contributions ?

QUOTE(Vinci777 @ Jan 10 2010, 01:15 AM) Diaby despite one of our tallest and most physical players, lose out on aerial ability and balls. Either his positioning for aerial balls jus sux or everton players are too good at it. Everton players won the ball by not jumping while Diaby seems to do the jordan jump. Luckily, he had a reasonable quick foot today. His interceptions and clearing saved us and not to forget about the assist. Now denilson seems injured and hes not having a good game as a DM today. Song is out for the lousy ANC, are we really going to stay with Denilson (seems we will be losing him now) for the whole month? Besides denilson, I wonder if gallas is still fit. He seems to injured himself at the back and endured until the game ended. A real fighter. Traore despite his pace and better crosses compared to awfull + selamba Sagna trademark crosses, he is doing bad today. Sometimes i feel silves is much better to deal with physical teams as he had better positioning with his experience.Traore was the best we could afford today. Donovan would have ran rings around Silves.

QUOTE(Vinci777 @ Jan 10 2010, 01:24 AM) Yes. He might use his pace on Silves but on teams like everton that play pressing and ariel balls, i still feel that Silves was the better choice. Traore doenst seems to cope well when being pressured. Everton players was pressing us the whole match. Our defenders dont even have a few seconds on their leg and decide who to passes. Anyhow, traore was very quick and i wonder why almunia cant kept his cool and communicate with traore to avoid the clash. I knew traore was gonna get the ball (if there is no mistake ) because we know he is dam quick. Those mistakes at high speed is what injured the players. Our player injured easily maybe because our the style we play. Our passing require players to stretch themselves to reach the ball. Hope i hope Song could quickly come back to us. We dont get lucky everytime. T.T I don't see how that would make a difference because if Silves were to play at left back he would have been far out left manning his designated position and Everton's long balls and aerial threat were all down the middle with the likes of Fellaini and Co., unless you expect Silves to abandon that left hand side and drift into the middle taking part in the heading fiasco. And as for the pressing it will be even worst if Silves is pressed. I don't think I need to elaborate anymore on how quick Silves' feet are and how good his ball control actually is.

Saying Everton employed anti football tactics is a classic case of sour grapes. If playing a closing down and pressing game is anti football, then what do you expect Everton to do? Just let us waltz through and strut our stuff? Sometimes you just have to acknowledge the fact that at times opponents can outplay you.
As for Peter Walton he had a great game. Many tackles from Everton, Fellaini in particular were hard but fair. We only have ourselves to blame on losing the ball and even giving the opportunity to the Everton players to even attempt a tackle with our lads taking a century to decide what to do after receiving the ball.
Many complaint bout the snow but the snow didn't stop Everton from bringing their work rate and desire to win the game did it? Lets face it our players didn't even look like they wanted to play and given the chance would have preferred to sit at home and sip a hot cup of cocoa by the fireplace. At times I found the body languge of the players shocking to say the least.
The first goal was a total fluke and our equaliser came only after the frustrations and jeers from the crowd were increasing in decibels towards the final whistle did they decide to exert themselves a little in the last 10 and as someone mentioned, Fergie time. Everton would have been slaughtered had the lads decided to turn up from the off.
Very disappointed with the result, appalled with the performance but relieved with a point.
I feel for the groundspeople and everyone else who worked so hard to make the game happen only to witness a performance like that. A weeks wages should be deducted from the players and given to them as compensation IMO.

QUOTE(ProbMan @ Jan 10 2010, 07:45 PM) I din say only Everton employed anti-football tactics, please read clearly ok? Im saying both of the team did the same thing, and it's not a good football display either...Why what u said this some kinda good spirit? This gotta be the most eye soring football match I've ever seen and the referees didn't even do anything about it. And I don't think Cesc/Song can be some kinda savior too in this kinda atmosphere like everyone been missing about. Oh so I suppose the weather and conditions isn't a factor then in your most "eye soring" football match Hoping for a good football match or display in that sort of conditions is wishful thinking at best. The referee did his best in letting the game flow and I found that most of the tackles were hard but fair. The referee had a very good game in my book.
