some tips :

1. do price comparison (asiarooms, booking.com, agoda, etc)
2. read hotel customer's reviews
3. set to Ringgit as currency (pay in RM)

booked 3 times with Agoda, so far so good... smile.gif

I am wondering how they charge us in currency. First u switch to RM, then u make the booking. So they charge u in RM or they convert the RM back to USD base on their rate and charged us in USD. I can't recalled how they charge in my CC over past year.
Very confusing, some time u see the rate is not what exactly what ur cc charged to u. But I can understand if u buy something in USD the cc will do the conversion rate base on ur cc last cut off time, meaning it depends on our bank. But since they charge us on local currency how suppose cc can't charged us the exact amount show at the website.
Very confusing.....
Has anyone book at hotels.com... their rate quite good. I find agoda very annoying, I can't select number of guest. SO the rate show at the search result may not accurate until u select inside and check. Some hotel only offer single occupancy.

most of the times, search thru this 2 websites will be enough :

http://www.comparehotel.com.my/

http://www.hotelscombined.com/

both of them will search thru most of the major booking websites (agoda, booking.com, hotels.com, etc) and display the results to u, so u can always find the lowest rate from different sites. Sometimes they can even get u lower rate than u directly search on a particular site itself.

yes, agoda is trusted site for hotel booking.

they charge in usd, perhaps their payment gateway based in US?

but agoda may not be the cheapest at all time, you have to use asiaroom, booking.com and many more, also do check on the hotel official sites, which they may have their own promo that can be cheaper than travel agency.

meaning agoda not always the cheaper source.

always look at the final price, which is the grand total.

i used booking.com before, its trusted as well.

We are unable to pre-authorize your credit card.
Please ensure that the number is entered correctly.
AGODA only accepts credit cards (Visa, Master Card, AMEX, JCB and Carte Bleue).
If you continue to experience the same problem, please try a different credit card or contact your bank. Thank you

not sure if this help smile.gif
i used to work in hotel line. as far as i know, debit card cannot be pre-authorized, it must swap as sale straightaway. that's why whenever guest pass us a card to pre-authorize for certain amount (if they prefer to use card instead of cash to pay for deposit), we have to check if that card is credit or debit card.

thats too bad... next time, use credit card
if u concern on the security, use those card that requires to input OTP which receive via sms.
then you can lower the risk of card fraud.
