Can you show your bandwidth graph comparing direct download vs youtube bandwidth... Full speed, mind to elaborate which package... and actual speed?
*
I'm not really free now, but I can provide you some info.

Direct download normally spins between 90KB/sec to 109KB/sec. (full speed for me)
YouTube spins between 176Kbps to 365Kbps (from what I see in the bandwidth graph)

1Mbps package, registered on 2007, Merdeka package.
Actual speed - 0.88Mbps, never pass that speed because port is capped dead on 1024Kbps.

So basically there's no solution to this problem ?

You just check if other ppl everywhere in malaysia also slow in youtube while faster in other website like thestar.com.my or other local. Or you want this kinda beyond normal user capability proof http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2339772,00.asp, like maybe something as big as microsoft only can research on.

Seems normal... mind to elaborate your network and OS and browser setting. Have you made any changes (Manual configurations perhaps)?

OS - Win7 Build 7600
No changes were made.

First it was Rapidshare. Now it's Youtube. I noticed the drag with YouTube in the couple days before Christmas, guess I'm not alone. My friend connection is even worse - he can't even open GameTracker anymore. Monopoly is very bad for the consumer. In some area in Sabah, there's even the "catuan tenaga" thing going on whereby there will be no electricity for an hour or two, pretty consistent I noticed prior 25 December.

<Tumpang bebenang>Anyhow I've tried out the "Pathload2" as linked by Diiimn, and I got something like the pasted below - FYI my package is the typical 1MB RM88 per month with modem. No modification whatsoever - install plug and use. </Habis Tumpang>

<paste>
Click "Start New Measurement" to run Pathload2.

Seems normal, yeah, I can see your locations only capable speed only at 1Mb by referring your line attenuation. Its true then youtube is being throttled by TM Net just what happen to rapidshare before... the best way only complain to CFM and MCMC.

For Linux only, if the test were done by using Linux but still youtube buffering, then its true TM Net limit bandwidth per user to youtube.

You mean cheapest within Malaysia right??  hmm.gif

Well if you compare with many other countries, the price we pay for 1 mb, we could have gotten a better broadband package elsewhere.

So in fact, if we compare against broadband on an international level, Malaysia broadband is quite expensive >->; probably on par with those African nations lulz  doh.gif

You mean cheapest within Malaysia right??  hmm.gif  well that is true... so yes get tmnut ...for now... since we are stuck with them as the best choice at the moment....

HOWEVER if you compare with many other countries, the price we pay for 1 mb, we could have gotten a better broadband package elsewhere. It is only when you do international comparison did you realise how bad our internet is.

So in fact, if we compare against broadband on an international level, Malaysia broadband is quite expensive >->; probably on par with those African nations lulz  doh.gif

I think africans are in fact having a better ISP than us. Thailand also has 10 mbps at rm 144(rounded up). This means its double the price but 10 times the speed compared to my "ONE" mbps "connection"

You know that which nameserver you use to resolve stuff has just about nothing to do with your download speed right?

I read one line. His broadband is up to 4mbps but they get 1.5mbps local and 1mbps international. Also, if you use too much bandwidth (not stated), the ISP has the right to cancel your contract.

Worse than in Malaysia.

Hey y'all, today I've encounterred numerous problems.
Either good or bad, it's both.

The good thing is, youtube streams smoothly for a 35mb video, wait it to buffer for just a minute.
But when I try direct downloading it via IDM, the speed is just like what TS said, doesn't get pass through 35kb/s. I find it rather odd.

Then I used a proxy site to access YT (hidemyass.com|kporxy.com)
Stream improved a bit and direct download is maxed out at 120kb/s.

As for now, miraculously, the ddl speed improved. It's excruciating. DX

Btw i've seen some relation to the dl servers too
IE: http://r4.hkg1.c.youtube.com
The one bolded is different one in a while. I think that affects too.

Yeah, but still Malaysia have only one ISP manage all other ISP by giving them wholesalescontract. If TM Net change single terms and conditions, it will effect other ISP as well, who knows...

Time and P1 are not wholesaling from TM. They have their own local and international infra. There are others as well.

I have my support for you fabianz03! Maybe you just collect daily streaming speed(for a week and different time) then screenshot and send to CFM and SKMM?

Another thing is that, 1 or 4Mbps users have the same streaming speed on Utube.

Hi there Chyan,
for your info., today is Sunday, which is a 'off day' for throttling for TM.
Weird but it really happens.

Jessica looks good on your avatar btw.
