Feel very bad and Just now, went to get a male bunny from Pet Safari Ikano for RM80. Due to budget, I cant afford quality HL from J Jay.
He is 2 month old. According to them , he is mix hotot. He has small ear. Went back and put him together with my rabbit. Strange, she didnt attack her.But to play safe, i put them at separate cage. Reason I choose that rabbit because he remind me of Mocha, Holland Lop from J Jay. This male rabbit is brown in color and has small ear. He has strong legs as Mocha. I will call him Milo.

Post photos of milo please!

cause petshop sell all sorts of small animal from rabbit, hamster, turtle and etc.

sangeterap, can you post the nearest photo of my male rabbit when it reach adulthood? i need mentally prepare.

ps
reason i choose that one because the rear legs felt like holland lop. some more his ear is short. dont think it will grow very long like normal rabbit.
*
It's quite impossible to predict the size of your rabbit when it matures as we don't know what the hotot was mixed with.
But you live in a house, size only is an issue if you live in a small apartment.

U missed sangterap's point about petshops.

yea. i have no issue with space as my front and back got garden. problem is i don't like normal rabbit. they are long n not cute. remind me as satay rabbit as ppl breed for its meat. not sure can return and ask for exchange. i recall two salesman said different things.the one who serve me said is hotot. but the cashier (another guy) key in as mix breed instead hotot. that time i thought mix breed = hotot+other breed. so dont bother much. but after few owners sharing, i had a bad feeling where mix breed = normal breed rabbit........

hmmm.. what he try to show/enlighten me?
"Why are rabbits found in petshop?"
to me is a very strange question.
just like i ask another Vincent
"Why are hamster found in petshop?"
*
If it is a mix hotot, the hotot gene is very weak. Cause your rabbit doesn't look like a hotot. Mix breed could be any combination of rabbits. There is no such breed as a "normal breed" rabbit in actual fact. Just that in malaysia we tend to refer to our arnab kampung as "normal breed". Your rabbit doent look like arnab kampung, looks like one of the long hair mixes, maybe lionhead or angora.

Anyway, for rm90, that's a fair deal. Plus the rabbit really is very cute, you should consider keeping him.

hi sangterap,

ok. next time I include it. thought by putting original, might offend.

hmm, few month i know the truth whether it look ugly or not. today his shit like "pao ji yen". the chinese medicine we eat for stomach pain. so small. unlike my rabbit shit. her shit so big even 2 month. but this 2 month shit is extreme small.

to all, i like to make ppl laugh. haha! thanks...
we need dream and hope. my hope is Milo parent is hotot + holland lop = mix breed

ps
i might has the last laugh   rolleyes.gif

Milo doesn't sound too healthy, soft or small poop is not a good sign. Feed him some papaya tablets from oxbow, that should regularise his poop. once u get the poop to normal size milo should be ok. Some pet shops/breeders give their rabbits sub standard pellets, a bad diet aFfects the health of the rabbit. Btw what pellets and hay are u giving to your rabbits, just curious.

he no longer has soft poop. as for small, i think is normal as his size is small. like a computer mouse. i gave them Haagen Pellets and Hay from Ikano.Recently got buy 1 free 1 (only $15.8). really excited n curious how he look like when he reach adulthood.
*
ummmm, how small is milo anyway? size of a computer mouse doesnt sound like a 2 months old rabbit. even my ND was 4 times the size of a computer mouse when he was 2 months. be extra careful with milo's diet just in case he isnt actually 2 months old.

clorox? human shampoo? rclxub.gif
they got special shampoo for rabbits if u really feel that you must bath her (though personally i dont recommend giving a rabbit a bath, if i feel that he is dirty, i use a damp cloth to wipe him down. because it's done in a petting motion, he doesnt mind it at all). bathing is traumatic for most rabbits, that's why she reacts that way.

clorox is for clothing la. if you use it on your own hair, you will end up poisoning yourself. so dont use it on her. dont dry her in the sun, rabbits are sensitive to heat.

Nearly had a heart attack over the weekend. Hector didn't touch his dinner on friday, I was in panic mode. Plus it was the hols and all the vets were close. Stayed up with him till 4am monitoring and petting him. Never seen him so demure, he just sat in his tunnel quietly. I really tot I was going to lose him- a rabbit that stops eating and pooing is dangerous. When he started eating and pooing on saturday, I was so happy I nearly cried. He is better today. Back to being greedy and hyperactive! Phew, that was a close one. I've upped his vitamin dose and stopped fresh veggie. Am going to monitor his diet for a week before I move back to anything fresh.

Just wanted to know how the rest of u handle emergency issues like this when it happens late at night and u can't get to a vet? Are there any DIY emergency treatment I can perform to help him while waiting for the vet to open? I know animal medical centre on jln tun razak is good for emergencies but even they are not 24/7.

from what i understand- breeders tend not to sell females cos they are breeding "stock". you only need 1 male to impregnate 5 females but it doesnt work the other way around. that's why even if you can get a female bunny, its going to cost much much more than a male. ya, i know beh doesnt sell his female rabbits. so far the only breeder i know that will part with his females is sangterap but as sangterap does very very small scale breeding, its really hard to get a rabbit from him (heard the waiting list is super duper long!). plus sangterap has a strict evaluation process, i dont think i can pass, i'm still very much "budak baru belajar" blush.gif hahaha!

i'm also worried about bonding. cant simply campak a female rabbit to hector and hope for the best. need to see if they get along first before even considering buying. also must neuter hector first. then have to go thru the long and frustrating bonding process with no guarantees of success. not easy job lor sweat.gif. if they dont get along i might have to set up 2 separate play pens which will mean i will be moving to sleep in the kitchen tongue.gif pengsan! hahaha!

hector fat lor! the boy is not just fur! he eats so much its amazing. part my fault as well, hard to say no to a rabbit who is begging for food. bad mommy!

Eli, instead saving $100, how about donation/adoption from current HL owner?  Miracle do happen yeah?

zenix, how your bunny walk or eat with its fur cover entire eyes? use nose ah to navigate? i notice you seldom take your bunny photos. that is old photos. can u post new photos?

;O)

So many willing buyers for purebreed, unlikely anyone will donate unless its to a friend. But I guess u can continue hoping. Maybe ur friend will donate mocha to u.

hi =] if im getting a wired cage, do i need to get a litter box at the corner?
i also heard u should line the bottom of wired cage with bathroom floor mats~ but how will the pee n poo go through? do u line the whole bottom with the mat?
*
U shld line the cage cos the wire bottom hurts the rabbit's feet. Dun have to use floor mat, there is a special mat for it, u can buy at most pet shops. It has holes big enough to let poop go thru.

i am looking for that too!! do u have any idea which pet shop sells it? cuz when i went to pet safari the other day, i asked the staff they say they dont sell it =[
*
You know the big pet shop at taman megah, the one next to the pasar malam and futsal court? If you go upstairs to where they sell cages you can find the mat there, it's blue in colour, very thick plastic. It wouldn't 100 percent fit the cage but it's sufficient. Alternatively, u can try hardware shops, look for the plastic mats they use in public toilets. It has round holes for poop to go thru. Pro- it can be cut to perfectly fit the cage, con- it's thin, rabbits tend to bite it and it tears apart.
