on a separate note, jjay pet station is selling very cute rabbits wub.gif was checking out their blue eye ND, OMG so pretty!!!! wished i had a bigger apartment, i really want more rabbits cry.gif

thanks sangterap & zenix. think what i'm feeding hector is about right. love the way he overreacts to food, so greedy! anyone would assume that i'm starving him the way he jumps and begs for food wub.gif

vincent, i think JW is jersey wooly. super furry rabbit, very very cute tongue.gif

hi nico! long time no see!

i decided to add some variety to hector's pile of hay-orchard grass. he seems to quite like it so far.

Bro,

I don't understand what you rambling about. What male become female then pregnant?

Sounds like gender change service from neighbor country.....

Cute or not is very subjective. Some people see cute differently. But to be honest, if cute it won't be up for sale la....sure got a lot of people grab already......
*
I actually spoke to the shop keeper/owner about the same rabbit. Think vincent misunderstood. The rabbit is male and was neutered so he wouldn't impregnate (as oppose to pregnant). And the rabbit isn't for sale cos it was being boarded by the petshop on behalf of beh.

And I think the rabbit looks quite cute actually. He isn't fat, he's just very furry and big-he is 2 years old after all!

No, you are wrong again.  I spoke to the shop owner and she said that the rabbit has been neutered so as not to be able to impregnate other rabbits. Also, he's not for sale as the owner is outstation and Jjay is taking care of him on Beh's behalf. Sorry to disappoint your wild sex-change fantasies bro.
You seem starstruck. Are you ok? I don't think Beth79 is Beh. I admire your knack for jumping to conclusions.

Hector is my first pet (who isn't a fish) ever. I got him soon after moving out of my parents house. My mother has strong objections about pets so I pretty much spent my life lusting for a pet. Being my first pet experience I am constantly amazed with the trust and love a pet gives to its owner. Its magical.

Today while kissing my little rabbit it occurred to me what the kiss actually meant to my rabbit. I imagined myself being a tiny creatures who is easily scared. My instincts tell me to run and hide at the slightest indication of danger. But here I am, hopping trustingly to a creature 50 times my size with big teeth and obviously a carnivore from the smell from her mouth. I stand right next to this creature and bent my head telling the creature I want a kiss on my head. My natural instincts tell me that the creature could bite me with the scary teeth and hurt me instantly. Yet I do it anyway cause I trust her.

Everytime our pets let us kiss them or pet them or carry them, they take a big risk. Although some may argue that animals might not have the brain power to rationalize, I believe that being animals they have extremely strong instincts in sensing danger. Even more so with prey animals like rabbits. Its touching and well, magical that an animal could trust me with their lives, could put all their natural instincts aside and put everything in my hands.

Animals are amazing.

Eli, other than alfalfa/timothy, is there any other hay that ur bunny obsessed with?
*
My little fella took an instant liking towards orchard grass so I have started to alternate his hay to give him some variety. Some are of the opinion that orchard grass is more appetizing to rabbits than timothy and alfalfa. Or maybe try oxbow botanical which is a mixture of dif hay making it more alluring. Good luck nico, hope ur boy gets better soon.

Any of u have a problem with a totally inactive bunny? My friend's rabbit is inactive. It has been 7 months and he still hardly comes out of the cage. He has never taken a run and has been indifferent to all the trick outlined online to lure him out. But funny enough he isn't scared at all of humans, always willing to be pet even by strangers. Is this something we need to be worried about? Any suggestions on how to deal with him?

What breed is this inactive bunny? Certain breed can be the reason. If not, something internal might be rosak where this rabbit cant behave active. Example, hole in heart ppl cant do heavy exercise and tends to be passive as their physical body dont allow them.

he's a holland lop but he is more inactive than any holland lop we know.

Kak Yan,

Yes, I'm really relying on Critical Care. I always prepare a stock with me. But u know la my fussy boy, I syringe fed him, he wont swallow at all. Geram betol!
I contacted Beh a few days ago to get another pack of OCC and BBT, but beh might be busy lately. I'll contact Petshack then. But i really recommend ppl to standby OCC for emergency. Really helpful and recommended.

Now, i really want to alter Shiro's diet. I want him to eat more hays, but as he slowly recovered, he prefer fruits and veges more than pellet or hay. Now i've to start slowly.. reduce the pellet slowly. If i suddenly stop pellet just to make he eats the hay, he may get the gas and bloat tummy again  icon_question.gif

Hey, come show us the babies photos laaaa.. nak tgk what come out (i mean the color..) hehehe.. Photogedik cepat!

Only Shiro is free range when we're at home. The rest are in the playpen/cage.

P/s : I always tot Charlyz was a boy. huhu....
Did u get my sms? I hope u dont change ur number. If u change, pls PM/sms the new number ya. I miss u.

Zenix, I've ordered Bermuda Grass from Chubby Pets Garden. The fresh new stock is coming soon  rclxms.gif

Eli,
u're feeding Oxbow hays to ur boy, issit? I remembered when Oxbow was just arrived to Malaysia (thanx to Beh & Yo), I purchased 5 types of hay ; Alfalfa, Timothy, Orchard Grass and Oat hay and Botanical Hay. I really love the Oat and Botanical Hay. They smell sooooo yummeh. But too bad, my bunnies didnt like them much. I never tried to feed them on Shiro. If any of the pet shops have the freshly restocked Botanical Hay, i might want to try it on Shiro. Who knows if he will love it.
Did u purchase Oxbow hay recently??
*
No actually, my orchard grass is from beh and yo and my timothy hay is from chubby pets. I sprinkle orchard grass on the timothy like a "topping" on ice cream tongue.gif
I notice it is hard to get fresh stuff from pet shops, freshest are usually from online shops.
How is shiro feeling this weekend?

Should I smack it?

dont smack it, he/she is probably just scared of you.
new rabbit? once he/she gets to know you better, it will stop biting.
"old" rabbit? sometimes they get nervous. maybe there was some strange activities/noises/incidents that scared your rabbit on that particular day.

if he/she bites, give out a yell of pain just to let him/her know that you are not happy with the "incident".

WHAT??????!!!!!!!!!!!! U gila ke apa?? Female rabbits can be agresive sometimes due to their hormone.

If u want a discipline pet, get a dog or a cat whr u can beat them to teach them.
And remember, everytime u beat ur rabbit, that will be counted in hell!!!!
*
No point telling him that nico. Vincent believes that his method is correct and the rest of us are jealous of his "skill".

BTW how's ur little bunny nico? Feeling better?

@nicoty_yne, yea ur right.i'm gila. hope rabbit is a dog. haha. miss keeping a dog where u can play, teach and they good to you. unlike rabbit, they are like sotong.

@Eli,i laugh loud. i dont say ppl jealous of my skill. if can, dont beat pet is the best method. just like human, if can solve problem without war, go for it. when we punish our pet, not only they feel pain but master as well.

@guppy,wahaha,suddenly i felt myself is 'pintai' guy. i can imagine seeing myself beating a rabbit. so physco. guess this rabbit club got a physco
member.

@nicoty_yne, sad to hear Shiro condition. i think u have to make the worse plan. if not, hmm..maybe u can give Shiro to expert like sangeterap or Beh to take care. not sure they do that service or not.

since you know that it’s pintai behavior and you admit that not beating the pet is the best method, why don’t you try to discipline your rabbit without beating her? There is so much material online to help you. Do you want it to reach the stage that she dies or becomes disable before you feel guilty? Do you realize that hitting any animal (or human for that matter) on the head can cause brain damage? If you hit her on the body, you can break her soft bones. She’s so small and fragile like a newborn baby, would you have the heart to hit a baby that cries too much?

If you want a dog so much, why don’t you just get a dog? Why get a rabbit and treat her like a dog and get upset with her cause she doesn’t behave like a dog?

Eli,

Shiro is getting skinnier, which is worrying me so much. I want to feed him as much pellet/alfalfa as he likes, but i'm afraid his stomach wont allow that and i afraid his bloat stomach will comes again. *headache la*

Now i mix alfalfa in his timothy and cut the hays shorter and put in his bowl as he loves hanging his head in his bowl to eat, lazy to go to his hay rack and never touch his stuffed toilet paper roll. I sprinkled some apple juice. But again, he will digs and looking for his pellets at the base of his bowl. Notty!

I wrote to RabbitsOnline and hope i'll get some reply soon. I want to try some oats to help his gain his weight, but i must get a correct ratio and make sure it wont harm/effect his megacolon.
*
oh dear, poor shiro. am praying for the little fella. sad.gif hope he gets better soon.

take a further x-ray scan and see what the vet says. although it's very very sad, if there is no chance for the rabbit to get better, you might want to consider putting him to sleep to ease his pain. cry.gif

having said that, if the vet thinks there is some chance for the rabbit to heal, i think you should try.

good luck, we are all praying for him.

i'm so sorry, i dont know what to say. as a third party my logic tells me to let the rabbit go in peace-the fastest least painful route. but as a rabbit owner such as urself my feelings tell me to fight on- to put everything into the surgery and see if that will work. but again this might be selfish of me cause the one who is suffering is the rabbit sad.gif

what are the chances if you opt for the surgery? can they deal with the bacteria/virus too?
