I really hope that you will rephrase that. Though sounded too good to be true finding a professional in the net giving free consultation, but plz do not rule out that professionals do surf the net on casual basis. and really there's nothing wrong getting a 3rd person opinion regarding their uncertainties. In some circumstances, a dentist would even tell the patient to consult their own family members or friend to clear their doubt prior to some procedures. Patients have the rights to choose to know what they believe, and that includes asking around before they choose which ever treatment they decide. after all, they still have to be thoroughly assessed by the dentist before deciding if the treatment concerned should be proceeded, a good dentist would do that

oh and thanks for standing by the dentists, really appreciate it smile.gif

Yes, you are right. I miss that, it's my mistake. I should rephrase that as "Not all of them are professional".
But sometimes it's a bit too difficult to determine which information is actually from the professional.
I just want to help TS. Hope he make the right decision. May God bless you, TS.
Thanks for correcting my mistake.
By the way, quite curious to know if you are a dentist?

I'm asking on behalf of my friend. her upper anteriors and premolars on each side (ie 8 teeth), are all in very bad condition. some having class V cavities, probably extending towards the roots. she's now fed up with refilling, because her composite and GIC fillings always discolour.

possible to do crowning?

thanks.

well yeah, u can do crowning for all those affected teeth. but that's an overkill for such a small problem.

Assuming that your above description is correct, there are only 2 possibilities that give rise to your friend's problem. it's either the dentist did a crappy job or your friend's oral hygiene sucks big time. but which ever the probability is, she's better off just redo the fillings, but this time, get it done by a good dentist.

coz think about it. let's say one crown = ~RM600 (should be more than RM600... i think). 8 crowns = RM600 x 8 = RM4800. but instead, get a good dentist who can do good fillings that goes by RM150 (overcharged i know, but for an aesthetically pleasing and sustainable filling though). so for 8 teeth = RM150 x 8 = RM1200. plus a few oral hygiene counseling sessions = a few hundred bux? u will end up spending less than 1/3 of the RM4800 just to get something as equally good in total.

but again, it's a must to let the dentist does his/her examination and assessment prior to the final treatment planning.

u want one of the best in KL? go to KLIDC. Dr Mohamad Muzafar Hamirudin is your man. http://www.klidc.com.my/team.htm

P/S: no that's not me. and i don't work there

I did my implant 3 tooth side by side for $2400 in Klang's most experienced and well known dentist, Klinik Pergigian Khoo, da ones near to Klang KTM station. This was done in early 2004 and it took over a month to complete the whole process. I had to even wear false teeth too. There was very little pain thru out the process as the dentist Dr Lee is VERY EXPERIENCED & old timer too.

I also did my implant tooth in Klinik Pergigian Khoo recently at 14th January but is from OUG, Old Klang Road. I had lost my tooth because I didn't do crowning when I had been plucked the root last time when I fell down. The cost is just RM750 the most cheapest but reliable. I used to go this clinic since I'm small kid. I'm 23 years old only not that old la. Dr.Khoo is experienced doctor too graduated from Melbourne, Australia.

For my case I doesn't feel painful at all when he screw up the tooth to my bone because I don't have any root there. Just a week to do get the mould done and then wear it forever.

picture speaks louder than words. for those with testimonials (good or bad), please attach a pic of you flashing your teeth and let others judge the "workmanship" (or lack of).

opps.. i meant "picture tells a thousand words". tongue.gif

Went to my dentist for molar root canal and crowing, but he said he can only find 2 canals, suggested me to go endodontic specialist to calcified 1 more. Is 2 not good enough? Going to endodontic will cost me alot.

I know crowning got two types. One metal, other porcelain I think.
Porcelain one cost me around RM1k for my two front teeth.
Metal was is half the price.

I also know implants are very expensive. I have a family friend who did it in GH and it was very much cheaper compared to private dentists.

price range from 400-2k......
