Excuse me, I have recently bought a TP-Link W8960N modem router. It has the QoS feature, but how do i limit the bandwidth that my housemate is using? Because he's using pps for 24 hours, and i wish to just slow him down, no need to block everything. Please help. I can't find any solutions.

For those using Unifi with stock DIR-615 router, it is very easy to block off PPS using the router. Just go to "Advanced" - "Filter Rules". Then get the MAC address of the client whom u wanna block. Block port from 1900 to 64430. Save Setting and Reboot router. They can now surf normally, but PPS will be blocked!

Here's a screenshot:

The best thing is during low-peak hour when you allow PPS you can always uncheck the tick box, and re-check whenever you need the bandwidth again, and act like nothing happened ...... whistling.gif

Worked for me ...... thumbup.gif

i would suggest block port range if you really wan to block

Added on June 4, 2012, 1:15 pmi would advice to block port 1024~65535
and exceptionally allow port that u need to access to like 8443 or etc if you need those for other http services or like mysql on 3306 etc

Hi,

I would suggest that you look at OpenDNS.
Get a Free Home OpenDNS account and configure your network.
Block DNS port on the router for those IP. Enable DNS relay on the Router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
A lot of School and Organization are using DNS to filter.

Hope this works.

Just block the site addy.... doing this blocking port nonsense will cause ur roommate to screw around with the modem n such. Block the site... n when he ask why cannot access u tell him must be tm prob cause u cant access too... either that or assign QOS to PPS.

my router only support qos speed reduction but wont block specific site, hot to do that?
