Its really funny that the "3G problem" that people are complaining is actually just setting up APN on the phone. That is not a problem (aduh!)..Its just the setting..How dumb could the complainers be? I mean..They're using a superphone when they don't even know how to setup APNs?! @_@

oreomambo, its actually a good question you asked me there. Why I bought the US version and not SG/HK version? Just because I wanted Google's first ever gadget right from its main HQ..Thats why smile.gif I really am Google's fanatic (or freak maybe?) and I have already studied about Nexus One before its first few images were even released. Been waiting since last year so I was ready for anything to come against me (bills, customs, etc).

If you didn't read earlier, I have bought a Microsoft Zune player using the same technique from US. I like to collect "rare" items (stuff that is quality, and can't be found in our country) and sometimes I can pay really crazily for them too. Call it a craze or hobby. I dont know.

Like my Zune which has been working excellently for almost 2 years now, I believe my Nexus One will function just perfectly as well. 0.00001% chance that it will break down on me. None of my phones were ever claimed with warranty and when the warranty voids, I actually fix my phones myself if there are any problems.

Worried about my Nexus One? haha..I will not rip my Nexus One of course (I wouldn't rip my hero too if it were "kaput")..What will I do? My dad lives in Holand and works there. He vists me back a couple times every year..I can seek his help to get it fixed for me smile.gif

If you can't afford to bear the warranty, might as well you don't buy the phone..Thats my personal advice..My brother could've bought his iPhone from Maxis, but he bought his original version from Belgium..How cool is that? smile.gif It's just a self-pride thingy really. Nothing to show off to be honest. I will be all happy myself looking at my Nexus One knowing it came specially from the Google's HQ..

What is for sure is, I always buy original gadgets particularly because I have had a bad experience with AP stuff. If you want to know the story, its very long. If you are not interested, it will just waste space on this forum..haha..But it taught me one definite lesson "Money can't buy lives"..For a little extra money, you can get original stuff which will reduce your life risk, its definitely worth it! Because if we die because of a gadget, it will be worse than "mati katak" and you will never have a chance to fix the mistake once its over smile.gif

Woah..Nexus One philosophy class..LOL!!

Added on January 11, 2010, 5:23 pmOh yeah..missed one important point..Nexus One from SG/HK/US/Euro all will have multitouch HARDWARE..but it will not be activated..I know I will get mine to multitouch soon (although I dont use it that much though).. smile.gif

Yeah..Personally, I use GMail more than my push emails..Reason, I have setup all my POPs redirect to GMail and it manages them really well form one center..No issues about archives on server..I will also test GMail on Nexus One..But its the POP3 account that i'm really looking forward to smile.gif

I will test the POP3 with 3G rather than WiFi..you can forward HTML emails or send some attachments..

shahz, is there a good file explorer for Android? Something like RescoExplorer on the Palm OS? Also, is there an easy way to view and change the file/folder structure of an Android device on a Windows computer?

I'm waiting for the right platform to ditch Palm OS and I think Android maybe it. My new platform should be very open and give me full control of the content I put or create on it. I have half a mind to buy the N1.

Shahz : He hehe he.. you are google mania. smile.gif Mmm... I don';t know whether I am a google mania or nat,, but I already using google since their system was in Stanford.edu in 1990's, where it was only indexing several hundreds of pages only. smile.gif. Those days, yahoo was the most poplular search engine, but, I used Excite, and then Google.

Today, I have Google mail l, Google \/\/ave, Google VOICE, Google Checkout, ..... and soon ... the Google PHONE!!.

Ooo.. the spotty 3G was because of APN settings? smile.gif he heh he heh e... Wow!!! and this simple problem became massive chaos in the Net... Fuuuhhhh.... O ya... since I have Google Voice, I can call any US numbers for FREE from Malaysia, and through my E52, and next, will be the N1. So, have problems with N1, I can directly call US support numbers smile.gif

Thank you.

Added on January 11, 2010, 8:48 pmbahathir, exactly! When I first got my hands on internet back in 1997, Yahoo was hype! Google wasn't available yet..Somewhere late in 1998, Google came out and ever since then, I became their huge fan..GMail was launched sometimes later, I signed up for their personal invitation but I didnt got it..My friend however, got an invitation and he had 5 invitations out of which he gave me one..Its still the GMail account I use till today smile.gif Then, I started using more and more of their services like Earth, Talk, YouTube, etc..Then Google Chrome came out and was another huge leap in internet browsers world..Sadly it wasnt available for mac.. Then, one day..I got to know about Wave coming out soon..I requested a beta tester account and I actually got it this time..Had lots of fun with Wave too but there are still improvements necessary for Wave..Then came out Android OS and Chrome OS..The day it was announced, I already sworn myself to get an Android phone where my Android legacy began..Then came out Chrome for Mac..which I have to say was the best thing google did among all! If one day Google makes Chrome OS available for computers and notebooks, bringing it in rival with Windows and Mac, I know what will my OS be then smile.gif At that point I will be fully Googled..haha

heh heh eh e... shahz... you are really google mania...smile.gif Nice to meet you smile.gif

Ooo.. forgot about the Chrome OS smile.gif ... Ok, I downloaded the VMware image from gdgt, and runs fine with on KVM/Qemu in GNU/Linux environment. Few days latter, I extract the VM image into raw image and dd it to mu thumb drive... Result? Yup, it can be booted directly and natively in my Laptop (Thinkpad T61) as a Live (CD). The Chrome OS boots very quick, around 7 seconds, but, it is just GNU/Linux Ubuntu 9.10 with full screen Chrome. But enough for simple use.

BTW, there are reports about short battery life... and here is my theory. smile.gif
1) N1 = Google Phone
2) Google = Cloud computing
3) Cloud = Internet
4) Intenet = Wifi or 3G or Edge or GPRs

Yeah. if you enabled auto sync in your IM, mail, facebook, SIP .... apps, all the time, then, N1 will connect to wifi or 3g continuously. I realized this, when I enabled SIP phone features with my Nokia E52, where the battery life reduced dramatically.

So... if you have the N1, make sure you disabled any online/Internet apps or auto sync, when you are not using it. .

Thank you.

Nice to meet you too Bahathir..Yeah..ChromeOS was built with the Ubuntu kernel..I tried it on my friend's netbook and it actually loaded like a PDA..Almost didnt see the startup at all.. @_@

Its actually very useful for a netbook really..When you are on the move and need quick internet usage with not much stuff to be done (perhaps just logging in to check email or reading new posts on LYN?) then its seriously nice..There are more mods coming its way..I guess Google is hard at work with that too..

Ok, see my updated posts for N1 tips smile.gif

Yes, I agreed with you, the ChromeOS will be a small OS resides in netbook partitions, or in future, it will be in the ROM... So, we may see a Goggle ROM or BIOS in near future!!!, and it is not impossible...

Google : All your 'computers' belong to US !!! smile.gif

Well, that depends on what they mean by "short battery life"..To me, if my daily usage can last one day, thats more than enough for me..Daily Usage to me is considered extreme usage for some users..That includes:
- 3G always ON
- WiFi always ON
- GPS always OFF
- GMail always running with at least minimum 25 times accessed in a day
- GTalk always running with about 2 - 3 chats a day
- Twitter always on with at least 5 accesses a day
- Facebook running minimum 1 time a day
- About 5 - 10 calls a day of about 5 - 15 minutes length
- About 5 - 100 SMS a day
- About 3 - 5 pages loading a day

All this was useable on my Hero without much problem..I would charge the battery at night when the status would still be yellow (not red yet)..Sometimes my Hero was able to gush the power all the way till the next morning and it would still be red warning..

Hero is 1350mAh and Nexus One is 1400mAh..I suppose I will be comfortable on Nexus One with that usage..Of course we don't use our phones like we use our laptops / desktops..But this is already good enough..People like me who do internet business, these phones carry my business together smile.gif

Battery lifespan is one big big issue with me...

if i got the phone, can it withstand this:

3g always on
calls: almost 4 to 5 hours of talk time a day
sms: bellow 100 a day
email: at least sync every 30 minute day time only...

on my current phone the batt cant last for 3 hours without charging but that only for calls and SMS, but expecting this whole thing as daily routine if i got a new phone plus lil bit of FB and surfing... ehehehe can the N1 batt or Hero batt last a day with this kind of usage.....

i think they should offer higher mah batt lah...

i think should be fine..although 4 - 5 hours of talktime is the only thing that may use up the battery..

if i upgrade my current phone to n1 it will be like from bicycle to rocket then tongue.gif
as for my current phone, when jatuh won't sakit hati, battery life could easily last me 5-7 days, and it got a mini torch light on it's top to help me find stuff in the darkness......

i guess i gonna wait after cny before getting the n1, most likely through my friends in singapore
unless google officially sells it to malaysia

But, the CPU is a smart CPU, with proper OS, the CPU cloc is varies based on the system load. It is similiar to SpeedStpe or AMD PowerNow! features.
