jwyj, this is the photo of replacing the MN03 bulb with a Mini Maglite 2AA bulb, it runs on 3.2V LifePO4 and gives very white beam of Xenon lights. It is as bright as the MN01, but it is flood, so the hotspot is dimmer, but much bigger.

Left is MN03
Mid id MN03 with replaced bulb
Right is the E Series Micro Tower
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=186193

So, now I will try to make my own E Micro Tower, prefer a adjustable of Throw or Flood Bulb. May buy a cheap like to modify it, like the Ultrafire C3 I told you before
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1993

or wait for LF bulb to modify.
Hope I will be successful  rclxms.gif

I got these spacers from justin78 which I think also got potential. A bit thinner than the drop-in but the same height. Maybe can file away the top bit, drill 2 small holes at the top and 1 big hole at the base???? sweat.gif
But my very first use apart from charging batteries is, putting a 14500 battery + 1 spacer wrapped in sello-tape into my L2 which is too narrow to take 17670 or 3V CR123A soshine batteries. L2 gives the same brightness.

Here are some photos of my little experiment with M1X plus an asperical lens.
First I use a knife sharpener to remove a bit of the edges off the lens because it is too big to go into the head.
Attached Image
Then simply take out the glass & put this in.

Now the beamshots. But not as bright as original glass.

the spacers still need a big disc at the top, hmmm hmm.gif

Can you take a snapshot of the LF bulb's bottom, is there a hole there (to put the driver circuit board)?

Yeah, burnt a deep hole in my wallet too, and RRT0 will be coming, but I can't give a firm date yet, just be patient.

Btw, imagine this when Tom Cruise (jmaguire) enter the house, and say hello to Dorothy Boyd (as Renee Zellweger)..... with a Jetbeam RRT0 beam on her face, she said "You had me at he.., wow .. Throw me that RRT and you can have me" tongue.gif

Haha interesting looking pattern, looks like it needs a suitable reflector to make use of the lens.

I think can still drill out the spacer bottom and put in a tiny driver, or easier make it direct drive.

The LF bulb has no hole. The bottom is just like any other bulb, like a drop of solder there. But I know that the bottom must be isolated from the side, to achieve the +ve and -ve.
