It's ok. It's my fault too that the white gp couldn't make it. I noticed her too slow. And it's not your fault too the agouti is like that. Can't blame you. Now is hope the agouti can survive this. I will take her to vet tmr and see how the vet says. If she have to bear this for the rest of her life, I don't mind taking her for the rest of her life too  smile.gif

You have a maid at home right? Did your maid accidentally drop something that causing its injury? e.g. ceramic food bowl or anything? Or could it be its leg got stuck in the cage, she struggled until injury?

hey fellow forumers. need your help. i need a new cage as the one i am using now just aint working. the one i am using now i like solid at the bottom, so there is no where to drain the poo and pee. it gets smelly very very fast now that i have 3 GPs in there.

i was thinking abt getting one of those cages with grills at the bottom and another level where the pee and poo will go, den i can just clean the tray instead.

the only worry i have is what size of the grill shud i get? i am very worried that the GPs leg will get stuck in between the grill. and if i buy too small, the poo will not b able to go thru. mm it wud b very helpful if all sifus here can help and advice. thanks. biggrin.gif
*
You can buy this type, very good, the gap is small, size is big enough...it cost around RM80-100 only. See the picture below I have 4 small rabbits in there.

get a floor mat for toilet use will do.

BTW, is corn pellet bedding suitable for GP? back2nature is out of stock everywhere!! this is de closest i can find...
*
I don't think corn pellet bedding is safe to use, the smell of the corn may tempted it to chew and eat. biggrin.gif

Wow, juz, nice idea on the place u put the cage. No need to wash the tray also.

Haha..put in on top of my old cloth iron rack hanger. Top part use the zinc cover sheet as roof, then use old PVC banner cover up the side so when rain also no need to worry they get wet.

I dont use the metal grill, instead i use the plastic one, so it wont cut itself (who knows)... Been using it for 3 years smile.gif.

Won't it chew the plastic netting? For my case, even bathroom mat also chewed up, plastic netting also chewed up....I every 3-6 months need to replace those stuff.

Today i have a very sad news. My brindle cannot make it.He was ok yesterday, still eating like mad when i'm feeding him last nite. This morning, i saw him lying there and keep struggling for survival. He kept move his legs. I dunno what happen. I felt so horrible. I thought i can save him, but i can't. I saw a little white tear coming out from his eye. What is it? Can anybody tell me?
*
So sad to hear that...you must be really heart broken on their early departure. Yup..I know how painful you feel on watching your own pet struggling for survival until breathless.....it reminds me of my Harliquine.

White tear? Never experience that.....

Ok, using new product from Japan named Marukan モルモット ディナー is very nice and fresh, mix with fruit, vitamin, 3 type of hay and veg, red bean, nut and many more, nice leh~~~

Do not feed your cavy any of the many commercial pellet mixes that contain seeds, dried fruit or colored cereals. These commercial treat foods are geared to look pleasing to us humans, but they are definitely not in the best health interests of your pet. Cavies are not seed or cereal eaters by nature and these types of junk foods are high in sugars and carbohydrates, which can lead to an overgrowth of bad bacteria.

*
You can get all these stuffs from traditional hardware shop. Even the glue gun.

hey juztiny, wanna ask, can the GP walk on that comfortably? cos the size of the opening looks like its big enough for the poo too pass thru. so if they can walk on it, i might just adopt this in my cage. cos now the mixture of pee + poo on a flat undrained cage makes me wanna clean the cage everytime i see it.  rclxub.gif

Need to put another layer of the toilet mat on it. Just plastic netting alone cannot support the weight of GP.

Added on March 2, 2010, 10:11 amThis morning 2 healthy babies were born. One male and one female. Breed unknown....not sure pure Sheltie or mixed. They look like Sheltie, but need to wait till 1 month later only can confirm. As I cannot remember who the father was, I had been switching the SOW till lost track.

The Abbyruvian when I brought them home, they were full of fungal problem and skin & bone. Now is a joy to see them grown and put on weight. Initially thought they were male, now can see clearly they are female, so will keep them to accompany some of my GPs. As I have trade off quite a few of my adult female GPs with some rabbit breeders in exchange for bunnies. Kekeke....see my bunny blog, collection also increase....

what a notty baby girl i got ... my mom says ... 'like owner like pets'  whistling.gif  laugh.gif

i observe her for 2 days.. she dont even eat pellets at all.. she just bite a few bite den she go for the hay .. is it enough for her to only eat hays??? cause she really dont eat pellets...  doh.gif
*
If she ate hay more than pellets, the survival is still ok. Perhaps you can hard force introduce her with pellets, meaning that you don't put hay inside, just pellets, then you see pellets finished, then only put hay in.

You can get the cat balls for them to play with. Also a normal PVC pipe (big diameter) so they can play hide and seek. I get my hay from petshack. But gonna try from the one Juztiny refered to last time see how  blush.gif
*
Ya..my gps love to play cat plastic ball, and the toss toilet roll coil. Always hear them tossing the cat ball. Sometimes they even toss the plastic container that I used as hay feeder. doh.gif

Best way is to separate them lor...put a wired divider between your cage, can see, can kiss but cannot hump, LOL! laugh.gif

lol...any other options available...?coz seperating them is kind of a pity...n neutering is nt an option for me..hehe rclxub.gif

Separate them with wired divider, is consider the best option and very kind already, as they still can see each other and find comfort. I don't see anything wrong with that. If you let them staying in the same hut together, and get hump by the male every now and then, sure you will have immature pregnancy.
