QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Oct 31 2009, 06:13 PM) Most probably Citibank. welcome. my MBB petronas and MB islamic card will be the 1st 2 victims. I hope 1PM will reverse it. It's not like they have never done such thing before. I mean in the past they announced they are going to do this and that and a while later they took a 180° turn and said they are not going ahead with it. I personally feel that there is very little chance for the bank to absorb the cost on its customers' behalf. But then i'm not ruling out on it completely either. If 1PM ignore all public objection and decide to go ahead with his genius plan, i hope he will at least make some changes to his initial plan and only tax those who actually owe credit card money to the bank. Monday go cancal. |

QUOTE(hye @ Nov 8 2009, 08:48 PM) In most occasions no. Just make sure the termination is done via letter and faxed to the bank / cc card centre. If you do your termination @ the bank, high chance you'll be asked to surrender your card and they will cut it up for you. last week i faxed my cancellation letter to Maybank, until now still not yet been cancelled. the card still showing in my M2U. |

QUOTE(hebe87 @ Nov 9 2009, 05:53 PM) Hi, for you guyz info, AirAsia is now charging covenience fee to customer who book ticket online using credit/debit/charge card, which is rm5 charged per one way ticket bought. lucky i booked my air asia ticket. Is this against the Bank Negara Rules? Pretty sad with their implementation of this rules.I think BNM should take actions against them, because they are one of the largest creditcard merchant in Malaysia, and it should not be the bad example to others for more info about this, http://airasiafansclub.blogspot.com/2009/1...-for-value.html next time when im booking AA, i will take note on it. |

QUOTE(shockk @ Nov 9 2009, 06:10 PM) I think the authorities are very well aware of the matter on the charging of the 2.5-4% CC surcharge by IT shops. oh, so you r the new staff? congras... If this is going to be heavily enforced, then we won't see any IT shops offering CC services anymore, as the 3% that they don't charge to customers, the shops themselves will have to bear it. Furthermore, there's just too many ways to circumvent this law such as increasing all prices to include the 3% (or whatever surcharge), then give the 3% discount for cash payment. Simple? Most 'glamorous' departmental stores like Harvey Norman and Best Denki don't charge as their prices 'already include the charge'. ya, i agreed with you, Harvey Norman is much more expensive than others except the case mentioned by Gen-X below. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 9 2009, 07:27 PM) Thunder Match outlet (ACER CENTER) at Midvalley don't charge surchage for CC because ACER absord this cost. SO go there and shop you able to get discount because you were buying expensive items. Margin is there, so is ok for Harvey to give discount. As for Harvey Norman, what do you mean that their price already include the charge? For Notebooks, I know Harvey Norman prices are RRP or SRP. For example, when I was gettng my son a HP TX2, LYP shops selling it at RRP/SRP and won't give me discount, so I called Harvey Norman IKANO outlet and they agreed to sell me RM100 off from RRP/SRP and no surchage for me using AMEX. So it actual fact, I got the TX2 cheaper at Harvey Norman and got reward points also. Harvey Norman usually can give discount if you do single swipe, you just have to talk to the supervisor of the department (call them up first instead of wasting time going there). Went I bought a washing machine and dryer at Harvey Norman, they also gave me discount. Even if you do installement plans, there is no surchage at Harvey Norman for using AMEX or CC. However my daughter's wanted the pink BenQ netbook few months back and had no choice but to get it at LYP as Harvey Norman don't carry it and had to pay surcharge for using CC So, in conclusion, we consumer have a choice as to where we want to shop. As for the IT merchants that charges 2-3% for CC, well if they want our business then they have to absord the cost or else in the long run they be out of business where the big boys (Courts also now concentrating on IT ) will eventually take away their business (hypermarkets vs kedai runcit). wondering, if i were in Harvey wanted to get glass blender, how much discount they will be giving me? the blender just cost about RM200++, perhaps RM10 off? |

QUOTE(winner @ Nov 12 2009, 08:55 AM) The service tax is imposed by the government and is not charged by HSBC. Nevertheless, looking at HSBC Primier huge customer base and high net worth profile, HSBC should reimburse the RM50 to its Premier customers in form of rebate. how about hsbc classic card user??? |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Nov 12 2009, 01:58 PM) Don't know about that. Was told they are also looking at waiving the RM50 service tax for VISA Platinum cardholders (only if you're a Premier client). Many HSBC Premier clients have both Premier Mastercard and VISA Platinum courtesy of HSBC hmmm... like that ar... lower class user not focus, its time to cancel hsbc..... |
