Actually there are seven Citibank branches here. All in the Peninsular Malaysia and none in East Malaysia.

Citibank will open another four branches next year. Three of these new branches will be in Klang Valley and another one in Kuantan. I wondered why they chose Kuantan instead of other states such as Perak, Sabah or Sarawak. May be because the current prime minister is a Pahang native 

Recently I tried to cancel my Standard Chartered Visa Business Platinum.  Today SCB called me back and said according to the terms and conditions, all SCB cards cannot be cancelled for the first year.  So I guess I'm stuck with it until my card reaches 1 year old which is August 2010... bye bye RM50...

I'm guessing next year they'll impose the RM50 immediately when you sign up for a credit card. Btw, who do we pay the RM50 to? Banks or income tax? Or mail cash to PM's house? lol

do you think the bank will do something for it? or else ppl will start canceling their credit cards then

Regarding the credit card tax, I personally think that it is wiser to charge the tax over the 3RD CARD ONWARDS for any cardholder. This will definitely be more effective in controlling the number of cards and not affecting the economy of the market.

Bear in mind that for MAS, the plane used is older, IFE is very limited compared to SIA's Krisworld. Foods are also better on SIA compared to MAS.

As for paying using cheque, yes there is a "fee" for each cheque but is it much cheaper than transferring funds online where there is a charge of RM2 if not mistaken.

I do not trust those contests. Last time I spent a lot using HLB and Citibank CCs in overseas but I never won anything from them. 3 months ago I received a message from MasterCard informing that my spending with SCB MasterCard made me in the running to win a prize in the MasterCard Mega Sale contest. But since then I have not been receiving any more news from them.

They did not announce or publish the winners list.

If cheques are a necessity you may consider some accounts with free cheques, such as Alliance Bank's AllianceSave.  It's a current+savings account with ATM card, online facilities and free cheque books.  Cheques come in handy sometimes...

I recently posted a dispute to my bank challenging AirAsia's convenience fee. If that fails then I'll highlight the issue with VISA/Mastercard International and let's hear the official word on this.

I beg to differ. I personally like such system as this ensures maximum privacy. Some of us only want to view certain accounts but most of the online banking offerings here in Malaysia will show everything in our online banking account        Troublesome bank ? Yes i agree. But if that means more privacy for their customers then i don't mind at all   

i think PBB is the best bank... i terminated their credit cards and within 2-3 days they have sopped me from viewing the account online.

Actually I think this maximum privacy thing is accidental.  PB requires customers to visit their banks on many things which should and could be done online.  Like their online FD, once you requested for it, you have to go to the branch to pick up your cert.  What the hell, the reason I place an FD online is so that I don't have to go to the branch!  Hopeless.  If I could go to the branch, I'd place the FD there physically lah.

Ya lor. In my case it was AirAsia who is doing this monkey business. I don't think I can afford to boycott them coz the alternative is to go for full price airlines.
