haha yeah noticed that in the game laugh.gif

overall a very good performance by the boys, particularly in the second half. the main difference between this game and the one vs blackburn? we actually kept on pushing and pressuring pompey, even after we went a goal up.
it paid dividends in the end, when we broke through a good 5 times (if u count david james swinging at thin air) and the biggest positive apart from the scoreline was our work ethic for practically the full 90 mins.

we were chasing and closing the pompey players down even after taking a 2,3 goal lead.
malouda's first goal is definitely the pick of the bunch. lampsy had a poor first half actually, but turned it up a notch or two in the second 45. good assist from mikel for didier's second, amidst all that rubbish that he can't pass forward. didn't quite agree with studge being taken off, as he was having a good game influencing our attack with some neat dribbles and passes.

as for the commentators absolutely wetting themselves in calling for a red card for malouda's 'elbow', well didier gets the same treatment practically every week from opposition defenders, without any action taken whatsoever.
studge's flailing arm appeared to be a total accident as well. yuri's foul on o'hara right before james's miskick though, should've been given. but after so many decisions going against us, we deserve that bit of ref incompetency falling in our favour for a change.

aston villa next!

I think Sturridge was taken off as a precaution, as he was felled just before his substitution. And Coley coming in was good for his confidence, he got into good positions immediately.

And where are all the youth supporters? didn't watch the game? a certain youngster made his 1st team debut then, was surprised no reviews about him since most of you here wants more youth players to come in. or was that just all talk? smile.gif

LOL at Hreidasson when he went to complain to referee.
laugh.gif guess Drogba hyper-ed.

mm. I dun watch the match actually. Since there's no a good streaming channel that time. And its midnight. haha.
Aston Villa next, we can really break their solid defense easily if CA use the correct tactics.

Breaking their defense is easy than defend from their attack. Carew is now on the fire now. Ashley Young is proving to Capello. Milner also on a great form.
I hope CA can really learn something from Portmouth match:
Lampard suit with 4-3-3
Malouda should play left foward enable to boost whole team.

Yes he did madfag, a good low centre from left but Drogba came in too late to connect cleanly with the cross.

And I'm still waiting for the youth supporter to stand up and name the player. and his number too. smile.gif

Sorry for the late reply guys..
I watched the match..First half were quite boring, but second half totally different story..
Sturridge really played well until he had knock which forced CA to substitute him with Joe Cole..He have good dribbling skills..

Once again Mikel proved he can be a good midfielder and he have assisted a goal as well.. rclxms.gif

Malouda's both goal were superb..What a thunderous shot!!!! rclxm9.gif
And another thing is our GK Cech have good dribbling and heading skills as well..
Those who have watched the match should know what Im talking about..

I should mention about our reserve player as well who got his first BPL appearance..
His name is Van Aanholt..
Eventhough he came in and played for around 20 minutes only but he really did a good job..
The cross which he made should been scored by Drogba..Hoping for more youths to play in our senior squad..

Moment of the Match : Drogba dancing with Hreidarsson.. laugh.gif

aw13 who are u calling out? tongue.gif

let's give them some clues..his name rhymes with bolt. and didier should've secured his hattrick after that brilliant cross! the lad looked assured going forward, but there wasn't any chance for him to show his defensive side as pompey were being overrun by then. joey did allright i guess. a neat lofted cross to find didier's head, leading to lampsy's header. he's on to 17 i believe?

ericling, what streaming channel? u didn't have to look for one. it was live on astro thursday morning at 3.40 am.

p. s : anyone found highlights for the 4-0 win against blackburn youth?

haha no one in particular. just that i'm quite annoyed when everyone is crying out for youngsters breaking into 1st team, and when they do, goes unnoticed. but don't mind me, just letting off some steam here.

yes it's Van Aanholt, the no 52, coming in for Zhirkov. smile.gif

i was just about to ask about his defensive abilities, a full back needs to be fast in tracking back and also dangerous on the attack. the only consistent left back with those capabilities we have is Ashley, Aanholt has alot of work to do if he wants to take over that left back position from one of the best, in the world.

i think he has the speed to match, no doubt about that. but at the moment bertrand who's doing well on loan at reading, is probably ahead of him. i'd hazard a guess he's the closest thing we have to ashley atm. it was still a pleasant surprise i must say..giving the lad a go in the last 20 mins, instead of the last 5. smile.gif
wonder if nico or joey will get the nod against villa...hmm

Either loan him to other PL teams or play him.

Youngsters need their confidence to be built up.

I am happy with Rafael's progress. He IS lucky due to the long absence of our RBs.

As for his twin brother, Fabio, he has to displace Evra as your Aanhold should with Cole.

I watched the game..yes happy! not something new if we talk about his talent..cuz he and bruma is a regular for dutch under 21 and before this under 19...
Yap..his cross is something new...a few direct cross and he didnt hold the ball but tend to cross with one touch...defensively...still weak compare to the senior fullback....but yes ! I like him !

yup that's right. ferguson has virtually permanent job security going for him, which benefits every player at utd.
your pair of fullbacks can only get better with the man on top assured of monitoring their progress, for years to come!
its definitely something chelsea need to learn from. smile.gif
