losing is not a good thing to happen at chelsea but on the bright side, hopefully it can knock some sense into everybody not to be too complacent. i strongly feel we will come back stronger from this defeat.

half of the season already gone. we win all three match against title contender and lose 1 to title pretender. the other half of the season hopefully we win all. 2games at home (arsenal, city) and 2games away (man utd, liverpool). and for these away games, i dont think we will use the 'cursed' away jersey haha

maybe losing in the carling cup have taken away the momentum of the team..

TBH this loss is good as a wake-up call to the team, telling them that there are no easy games in the EPL, and that the same hunger and desire must be shown whether if you are playing Man Utd or Man City.

We were shambolic throughout the game, and our game was pretty much something out of the blue. Midfield was overran, while Nic and DD were firing blanks all game. I think that game has the fewest shots on target for us. When opponents are physical and committed, we should put some of the stronger players in, so for me Deco was not the best choice on top of the diamond, he was well pegged by the likes of De Jong all game long. Mikel should've been in from the start, pushing Lamps up instead.

All in all, bad game. We need to pick ourselves up for the next game v Apoel, and onwards to the next league game as well. No point crying over controversies or ref decisions and what not. Time to refocus and regroup, and get the title charge going again.

i think he moved the right way but he was takin by surprise since the ball came thru the hole created by mancity players in the wall. by then, it was already too late.

this defeat is quite damaging i think.. it shows that even if we can beat all members of the top 4, our away form (in THE AWAY kit is still worrying) and 2 defeats in a week. especially games against the title pretenders. matches like this make or break our season. even if we're sitting(not too comfortably) at the top with only 2 points. seriously, guys we cannot afford to do a liverpool or arsenal two seasons ago if we want to be champs.

somehow, i think we were getting complacent and overconfident. remember a week ago or so, JT came out and reportedly saying that the Blues are feeling invincible again? i guess this is a humbling defeat. i'd prefer if our captain and co. comes out in the press and focus on what's present rather than the future, progress rather than outcome. we certainly do not want to be labeled as a cocky, arrogant club like certain fans who keeps gloating bout their titles won even before they were born and as if they were part of the history.

it's really something for CA and the boys to think about. it's not bad times but certainly the potential to be in one is very dangerous. i hope they do come back stronger..

i forced myself to watch our game during the epl highlights show just now, and it must be said the freekick given against riccy was very very harsh. during the match itself i thought "what the hell were u doing riccy??!!" but upon closer inspection, tevez did appear to jump into his foot more than anything else. however, there can be no excuse for the big gap he left between himself and adebayor in the wall. u could see by his reaction that he knew he could've prevented the goal by being more aware.

a few things i'd like carlo to address :

1. cech's flapping at aerial balls
2. midfielders' lack of pressing
3. the obscene amount of back passes made by defenders to cech for him to clear, automatically gifting city back possession
4. our collective failure to show more initiative and ruthlessness in securing that all important second goal
5. his own misguided faith in keeping deco on for 90 mins. (sorry guys he should've been off at half time with the amount of times he was being brushed off the ball)

one thing we can all look forward too : Kakuta starting against apoel! carlo said he's the most likely youngster to given the nod for the first 11. the kind of news that cheers me right up! rclxm9.gif

besides the ref i think it is carlo's fault... he shouldnt play diamond in that game... he should play our old 4-3-3... play d same system as man c.. our wingers are more superior... everybody knows we play diamond, no harm changing once in a while...

ballack and deco tak boleh pakai d leh... why didnt malouda get to start, he plays so well... mikel although not very good, but i think still better than that 2... ship them off, save some $$$ n buy some players while we can

read BEHIND THE MIC at our official site. It is said that we lack pace and that is true. we might have the experience in the squad to provide those killer passes to drogs and nico but when we're pressed with no space to play the ball, we're next to nothing. Its games like these when Carlo needs to find out the problems quick and make good substitutions. deco and bally does not have the pace which was needed to break the city defense. joey and malouda should have started to inject some speed into the team. how many times did ashley bombard down the left? Ivan is doing defense most of the time. we lack attacking power in the city game. other teams are going to use the same tactics against us knowing that it works, packing the midfield like how united and city did but we were fortunate against united. deco and bally might work against the weaker midfield teams but not against a midfield full of superstars. we must regain our lead by a bigger margin.

CA defends club duo after defeat to MC, Kakuta to get his first start
QUOTE
Carlo Ancelotti defended Petr Cech and Frank Lampard ahead of  their final Champions League group game against Apoel Nicosia.

Cech was blamed for allowing Carlos Tevez to score Manchester City's winner from a 25-yard free-kick in the Premier League on Saturday.

Lampard was then guilty of his first penalty miss since September 2006 when Shay Given saved his 83rd-minute attempt.

That followed spot-kick blunders by Michael Ballack and Gael Kakuta in a penalty shoot-out defeat by Blackburn in the Carling Cup quarter-final last Wednesday.

But both Lampard and Cech are likely to figure in Tuesday's Group D encounter at Stamford Bridge, and Ancelotti declared he has no concerns about either player's form.

Chelsea have already won the group and so there is a temptation for Ancelotti to rest some players against the Cypriots.

Captain John Terry, carrying a knee injury from the City defeat, is likely to miss out even though the problem is responding well to treatment.

Ancelotti also has doubts over Ballack and Ashley Cole. Cole is still suffering from an ankle problem while the Germany captain has a knee complaint.

Kakuta is almost certain to make his first start for the club while Ancelotti will also call upon youngsters Daniel Philliskirk and Nikki Ahamed.

'I think that John Terry will be able to play tomorrow but I have to control the next training session,' added the Italian.

'I want to put the best team out. But the most important thing is to monitor the players, to check whether they're able to play tomorrow.

come on, we think we need each other's support bcos we're considered the smallest fan base among the top 4 clubs. i don't think it's the right time to be pointing fingers at each other and be calling names. let's focus on the good rather than the bad now..

i second that. its not unusual for our thread to go quiet once in awhile, simply because of our much smaller fan base here in malaysia. its growing though. i like the point u made about us becoming complacent and a tad overconfident. those 'invincible' remarks and whatnot were premature to say the least. players can't afford to go for a stroll in the park anymore once we take the lead. villa and city have shown a single goal lead can actually cause us to drop down a gear and that's worrying.
