QUOTE(Azurika @ Dec 7 2009, 05:49 PM) better ask dell on the limitations of how much of the laptop u can mod urself , if not warranty void later Agreed Bro. Especially when you have 2 - 3years warranty, you wouldn't wanna waste it by doing something which will void it. I will call DELL one day and inquire as to the extent I can MOD my unit (Changing HD, RAM, PROC, GPU) but will do it when 1Q 2010 arrives and they prolly have some new additions to their M15x. |

QUOTE(unclegoldfish @ Dec 7 2009, 10:12 PM) Nice... Better design ...weight wise But GPU too. I hope they make it more swap friendly for both the 15" and 17" in terms of changing parts. Or maybe 15" with SLI? |

Even if they offer M15x with SLI, They would prolly offer higher cards for the M17x. But it'd be nice to have the M15x with the GTX 280M even if its just 1 GPU...
The only thing I dislike about the M15x is the fact the screen looks mighty huge, but the frame takes a chunk of the sides and you realise the screen is actually much smaller..... |

QUOTE(kelvin1989 @ Dec 8 2009, 05:24 PM) i heard people saying dell will replace faulty part with refurbished parts hat have, if the laptop were to be sent back for warranty, was it true? refurbished part sounded horrible... can someone pls explain more about this to me, i think "the part was fixed from the faulty defected condition sent back by other user or retailer? what if my newly bought alienware malfunction for some reason someday, and there is no other choice than replace a new unit, they sent me a refurbished one? it sounds unfair to customer, if the part they compensate to us was defected components previously... If replacing parts, it would be done at your location and they won't bring back. As for A Complete Change of unit, I have not heard of the replacement being a refurbished unit, I think it would be unfair to customers if that does happen so they should be a verbal confirmation with the DELL Technician that it would be NEW... |

QUOTE(kelvin1989 @ Dec 8 2009, 05:51 PM) i called them already, they said, yes! is refurbished part.... they said like they also not sure about the details of replacement part... just they were told, they refurbished word means the parts were taken from the cancelled order, or some retailers sent back the part to them, then the hardware was reexamine , if there was no problem, it go straight to be the replacement part Damn, I find that hard to believe. You sure? I have contacts in DELL Admin. I'll check with them to verify... Cos previously Dell Tech told me replace with NEW UNIT! Not Refurbished.... |

QUOTE(lchen39 @ Dec 8 2009, 11:35 PM) not vga to hdmi, is displayport to hdmi. For me, when in doubt, I head to Lowyat. Then search for the best pricing for it. I will do the same once I get my unit.... Which I hope is within next weekend..m15x got displayport for digital media right? just found a picture for the connector on the web. QUOTE(putochip123 @ Dec 11 2009, 12:22 PM) those are DFO stock, might refurbish unit, or etc..... What you mean by DFO Stock? How sure its a refurbished unit instead of pc-fair sales pricing. They might be selling it at attractive pricing to attract new customers to this NEWLY Marketed brand in Msia..... Added on December 11, 2009, 12:25 pm you are right bro, My M15x also using OCZ Vertex turbo 120GB..... but the performance is a big different..... |

QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 12 2009, 12:11 AM) my ETA was Laptop + Mouse together, but the mouse was late. Guess the cats caught it during delivery. How did they eventually deliver the Mouse to you? Was it a few hours late, few days late? BTW, Bro,... No throttling issues on your side right? Dell XPS 16 Thread bustling with this issue, but they're supplied with a severely underpowered 90W adaptor.... |

QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 12 2009, 11:25 AM) Obviously the performance will degrade. But if you're using it to surf and other small task like word documents and watching movies, should be fine. I don't think gaming with batteries is advisable tho. Should we run stealth mode when on Batteries?Wait, I post in AW Thread.... |

QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 13 2009, 04:47 PM) I'd been using my Alien for more than a month already my friend. Even posted unboxing video and pictures alike. Swtz, check out on V1. I bought it long before the PC Fair. I believe Julchin is waiting for his unit. Check out my blog and search Alienware. Whatever info I got, is through liasing with the DELL Staff, or by following Thread V1 .... |
