Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM2000-RM3000
Your Location : KL/Selangor
Preferable brand : Canon
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape, Portrait, Night shot etc
Any specific models in mind? : 450D, 350D, 500D
*
350d is very old model liaooo...... if you dont need the video on 500d, get 450d. major disadvantage when using 500d's video is the lack of external mic port brows.gif

else you can maybe try jump to used 40d or the new 50d (provided you dont need the video)

on the type of photography that you are doing now, i dont see you need superb AF (you dont do sports, high speed kinda stuff), so, entry level xxxD series may well suit you. but try to consider xxD series as it targets intermediate-advanced users.

Wow...infinite budget!

If I were you I would get Leica M9 thumbup.gif

It's a digital rangefinder rather than DSLR though

I am new to DSLR, previously owned a Sony T10
Like to take photo, always complaining my sony cant take nice night photo. I dont take much active photo. I wishes to bring my camera when traveling around and took picture.
MP is not a problem for me
Focus point, movie is not a must

I had Nikon D90 and Canon 50D and Canon 500D to choose
I know Canon 500D cant match D90 and 50D
But i really not sure whether i really need D90 and 50D (i need to learn how to use DSLR first)
Or just enough with 500D

I had enough money to buy D90 and 50D
But prefer 500D for its price.
Confusing now....

if you are interested in taking video with your dslr
================================
nikon d90 and canon 500d both have video function but both do NOT have external mic making it less favorably when taking serious video.
canon 50d do not have video.

as a whole
===========
its not really comparing apple to apple with d90 and 500d.

comparing d90 and 50d is more fair i suppose

read more and decide yourself.
you cant go wrong with either one as a matter of fact!

read the user comments for the discussion between these 2 models

50D cant take videos. D90 and 500D can, and yes it can record sound. but the sound quality isnt that good because the mic is on the camera itself. more expensive cameras have a jack where u can attach a better mic to, so you can get good video AND good sound.

i dunno what girls look for in a camera hehe...if she wants stylish-looking cameras go for sony T-series i guess tongue.gif

btw is canon S90 not S11. between canon G11 and S90, i prefer S90 cuz it's smaller while the picture quality is around the same as G11.

between LX3 and Dlux4, note that these two are exactly the same camera. get LX3 (which is half the price of the Dlux4), but the Leica logo kinda screams 'luxury' tongue.gif. probably can get the Dlux4 safari limited edition if money isnt a problem smile.gif

Olympus PEN <- which model?

She wants 'dslr picture quality' more than the design, I guess.

Sorry yeh. I know nothing with these small ones. sweat.gif

agree with dvlzplayground...Sony's latest T-series does perform like or even better than some entry level dslrs...especially it's new handheld twilight technology. So, it has the quality, sleek design, nice price...and easy to use =D

basically yes you can use back the lens. canon has standardized the lens mount to EF in 1987. i suppose your dad's lens is not produced before 1987 kuaaa icon_idea.gif

having 500d, you get less-superior body comparing to xxD series, less-superior focusing system, less-superior motor drive (frame per second), less-superior viewfinder (50d uses pentaprism, 500d use penta-mirror) and of course the lack of micro-adjustment on 500d.

read this http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_po...os500d&show=all
