Type of photography u want to do : Typical landscape for family outing, indoor portraits, MOST IMPORTANT is baby portraits who are moving quite fast indoors.

Any specific features u want? : Very quick continuous shooting for 5 seconds. To capture the baby. Also need 720p movie.

I'm really stuck right now as I'd really prefer a compact camera that can fit in a big side pocket rather than a SLR or like the NEX-3 which both need bags or slings.

So far I've not handled the LX-5 or G-12 yet but from the specs it doesnt seem either can shoot quickly and continuously, for at least 4-5 seconds. Am I right or should I go and try it out myself?

tyvm.. But is the lack of AF motor in the camera make me harder to buy cheaper lenses?

The questions are should I get the

1) D7000 wit the NIkkor 18 - 200 mm?
2) D7000 with Sigma 18 - 200 mm?
3) D3100 with  Nikkor 18 - 200 mm?

Budget is of course a concern but I am after value for money.

I seldom use the camera except on certain occasion and traveling oversea once or twice a year.

With your budget, 6k and you hardly will use the camera, why not get a cheap camera and get it done with? That's wasting money.

To answer your Q, might as well get a D7000 with a zoom lens la. It will cost roughtly around 5k++ that range.

I personally the D7000 + Sigma 18 - 200 mm lens but worry the performance of the Sigma lens.

For me, a mid range body with a killer lens will pawn even pro body with noob lens.

Since you are not into DSLR much, might as well get stg like Nex or PnS camera.

D3100 with zoom lens would do, since you are not doing much with it but once you get poisoned, you will spend more n more XD

Offer getting is 1.85K with 8Gb + Screen Protector.

So within this range any better offer Camera around, not prefer ordinary DSLR as the size is big.
