Hi. I'm vexed between these 2 models and D90 too.
Well, after research, i noticed that the price range is around the same :
i'm looking for :

Camera : DSLR
Brand : Nikon / Canon
Model : 550D/D5000/D90
Budget : Below Rm4000
Usage: Personal - Travelling, Celebrations

i researched : D5000 - 18-105 nikkor lens RM3400 - 8gb, additional battery
18-200 tamron - RM3400 - 8gb, filter
D90 - 18-105 - RM 4100 plus minus, 8gb
550D - 18-135 - RM 3700 plus minus, 4gb card

See? the price is about the same. icon_idea.gif
Or should i be adviced to get 18-55mm and get the lens separately eg: sigma and tamron?
need advice tai ko tai ko. can also advice my research price is correct.. brows.gif

if u plan to get 18-105/135/200 then no need to get 18-55 lah smile.gif how abt D5000 + 18-105 + SB600 flash? shud be like 4.2k. i dun think the tamron 18-200 is a good choice, no VC. at that range it's pretty important

if u need live view, no need to consider nikon dy. seems like quite hard to get D5000 with 18-200 under 3k

Well, I am a beginner and new in DSLR and this is gonna be my first DSLR.
Was planning to get a D90 with kit lens but also attracted to Canon 550D.
My purpose of getting a DSLR is for my daily, general use and as a hobby.
I am confused with both models.
I would not like to compare the movie mode as my main purpose would be taking still pictures.
Please advice.
Thanks very much.
