I think so too, not because purely of prejudice. IMHO Barca have a very strong team to let Messi enjoy his style of football and I don't think he is that effective when putting him in other teams. Ronaldo OTOH, he will be the MAN to watch in whatever team he is, Lisbon, United or Real Madrid. He has that extra little edge over Messi and also possess a superior header + free kick skills. However, I will pick Rooney over both anyday  tongue.gif
*
strength and ruthlessness wise - Rooney is 10 for 10, Messi OTOH, scary little playmaker.. Ronnie, blardy lethal winger

Messi has the ability to jinx by people in a flash, i think that's been proven over and over again, while Ronnie, deadball situations, he's the man to call, every corner with him in the penalty box, you'd be expecting something magical from him. Wouldnt say ronnie's finishing is as good as Rooney, but his other attributes such as flair, speed and acceleration is complete madness, going at the speed that he goes at, while running with the ball and doing stepovers, its just madness.

Rooney is more of a "Get Out Of My Way, or Ill Outmuscle You To The Point You Blardy Give Up" kind of forward, he's just freaking ruthless. Not to mention marvellous ball control.

We might have noticed it but if you give it some thought, Rooney rarely gets selfish, He's a team player. He gets back to defend when its time to defend his determination upfront helps drive the team. That's the edge he has over both Ronnie and Messi. Nevertheless, Best individual player of those three, has to be Ronnie, but if its about who's the best player(considering all rounded attributes such as work rate), Rooney is second to none.

On a personal note, i wouldnt mind watching Messi playing in behind Rooney With Ronnie on the right for us.. LOL drool.gif

Obertan is no Ronaldo for sure, and he himself have said that he is Gabriel Obertan, NOT Cristiano Ronaldo..

As much as we want him to be as good as Ronaldo, we all know we're just kidding ourselves, Obi will be a great player for us, but i doubt he'll ever be as good as Ronnie, Ronnie was more of a flying forward, Obi on the other hand, more like a Luis Figo kind of player, creates chances, entertains the crowd with his plays, but definitely not as lethal as Ronnie..

As much as we want to say Ronnie was never the one man that carried us two seasons back, he did. Look at him now at Real, 14 goals in !2 matches. That has to proved something, he must be doing something right with that kind of stats, remember the 50 plus goal season for us?
He has proven his class from time to time, as far as I know, noone can quite fire a free kick like Ronnie.

I'm not much of a Ronnie fan due to some of his selfish plays and arrogant remarks, but i have to admit, he is undoubtedly one of the class acts of his generation. Not many can do what he does, the only advantage Leo Messi has over Ronnie is that Leo is a team player, while our departed Ronnie, is more of a selfish one.

Obi however, he will blend into the team, he's keen to show the world ; Just like Owen, that he is a force to be reckon with, despite the injury setbacks.

Our team, has proven from time to time, We never rely on one player to bring us to glory, (except Ronnie's remarkable 50 goal season) , every player works hard, and every player wants to prove that they're worth being in the starting 11, and even if they're not, they build up the fiery will to play from the bench, thats the kind of players SAF brings to the team..

When a player no longer has the team spirit, he's allowed to leave Old Trafford. That's the philosophy SAF brings to the table.
Perfect Example(SAF, b4 coming to Old Trafford, brought Aberdeen up to destroy the Celtic-Rangers domination of the Scottish Leagues)

Nevertheless, every player on our team, are class acts, whether shining heros, or silent unsung heroes like Carrick,Scholesy and Fletch

Gibson determined to impress

QUOTE
Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson has revealed his determination to make the most of his current run in the side.

The 22-year-old went two months without an appearance following the Carling Cup victory over Wolves in September.

But he has suddenly appeared five times in 18 days as United's injury list has soared and Gibson has vowed to make the most of this opportunity to impress boss Sir Alex Ferguson and so earn a prolonged stay in the side.

He said: "Manchester United is the best club in the world. When you leave here there is only one way to go and that is down.

"As everyone knows, it is very difficult to make it at United but if you do it, you reap the rewards.

"The gaffer is famous for giving chances to young lads. If you take your chance he sticks with you, so hopefully I will keep getting a few more games."

Difficult time

Reflecting on the current spate of injuries, he added: "It is a difficult time for United.

"Obviously I don't like players being injured but it has given me a chance to prove myself.

"From not playing at all to playing three games in a week is tough going. But the manager has shown enough trust in me and I feel I have taken my opportunities so far.

"Hopefully they keep coming."

But Gibson also knows the time is approaching when his career will arrive at a crossroads if he does not get the opportunities.

"Last season was my first real one at getting games so hopefully this year I will get a lot more," he said.

Pushing harder

"I am pushing a lot harder so we will see what happens, although I have not really got a timescale worked out."

As well as the Premier League action, Gibson is looking forward to the upcoming tasty cup ties against rivals Man City and Leeds.

"The cup ties are massive games," said Gibson.

"They represent another chance to prove myself in front of big crowds.

"It is tough to get into the team regularly when you are young but hopefully I can keep having a positive impact and scoring a few goals, then we will see where it takes me."

Obertan may not be another Ronaldo, ever, but our team doesn't need another Ronaldo. Obertan being the way he is is far more important for us right now. A team player, and effective to boot. Keep playing the way he has been, it won't be long before he takes over from Giggsy.

As for Ronaldo's remarkable goals bringing us to glory, it's true in a way, but it was also because of our rock solid defence, the dependable VDS guarding the goal, the reliable midfield guarding them and becoming a launch pad for the likes of Rooney, Berbatov and Ronaldo to do damage. This season is proof that we're not reliant on Ronaldo and his goals, because we've been banging them in more compared to his last season.

Why not have both? For me, although it feels like Ronaldo is still one of us, but Messi gets my pick if I have to choose between the two. He can score goals, and also creates lots of them. Ronaldo right now is a battering ram, although to be fair, a really good one. He has a great start so far in his career there goals wise, but then the likes of Kanoute, Morientes, Forlan, Ruud etc have all done well over there.. Hasselbaink was once top scorer in that league. It's not a hard league to score in.

For Villa game, i tink my line up will be

Fletcher.Carrick.Vidic.Evra
Valencia.Gibson.Anderson.Nani
Rooney.Berbatov

Would love to see the combination of Rooney and Berbatov in town. Nani to be given another chance if he can actually cross the ball instead of Ronaldo-ing.

he's not really all about goals.. he can be a team player when he wants to, but after someone outscored him u know what will happen next laugh.gif

forgot to mention this, he was more of team player during the 42 goals season.. instead of dribbling all the way to score/assist the others, he using his team mate more to get in the end of things.. that's why he scored that much

messi also once was criticized for playing for messi fc but after he balanced everything, he scored 3X goals last season

there is no one man team, but maybe there is two men team laugh.gif
