Wolfsburg goal by Dzeko highlighted that aerial threat is always going to be our problem. Dzeko was unmarked. i'm not asking much as i was much delighted as u guys are but i can't seem to shake off the concern of facing Aston Villa. I'm confident though we will win against Aston villa but the concern is always there seeing the physical threat posed by Carew, Heskey, dunne.

With or without our regular CBs, it would still be a problem, although obviously without them we'll be tested far more than we have so far in the previous two games. I thought the game was fairly comfortable. You would think with us having only Evra back there as the recognized defender, they would bombard us with aerial balls and attack our defenders constantly, but that didn't happen, except a few times in the 2nd half which resulted in them getting that goal.

QUOTE(rayz1031 @ Dec 9 2009, 10:52 AM)
Obertan > That Kid, nuff said. I personally think that Obertan deserve much more starting 11 compared to Wellback. His contribution to the game is simple awesome.

Sol Campbell to OT? I LOL'ed.
*
It doesn't matter if he deserve to start more than the others. Evans propbably deserve to start more than half of our wingers, but usually he doesn't whenever Rio and Vida is fit. It's all about whatever the positions they play and the tactics etc. We started with two strikers. Berba and Rooney left behind, Macheda injured, what's left is Owen and Welbeck. No place for Obotak there, no matter how impressive he's been. 2nd thing is that we play with a back 3, so the wingers needed to be disciplined to track back the wingers. Park being better defensively, of course he starts. Obotak's direct competition on the night is between Nani who need the games, while Valencia is our safety net laying around. Nani being the more experienced and senior player was preferred, plus Obotak's defensively ain't that good. Doesn't track back much.

No wonder he say the ball is in safe hand! laugh.gif

QUOTE
Finally, after earning the match ball, Owen assured us that it was in safe hands.

“I’ve given it to the masseur, I get a bit shy when I’m holding it as it draws attention to me! Hopefully he’ll get it signed by the lads and then pop it in my bag when we get back to Manchester.”

Owen, was once one of the best young strikers in England until he's injury struck him. Then Benitez decided to let him go to Real, while at Real, chances were limited due to the Raul and other so called more qualified strikers. But everytime Owen played, he earned rave review, even scoring more than he appeared. soon after he moved to The Toon Army, and even there, his injury was just bugging him. Most of the clubs in England didnt think a veteran poacher would be able to bag in the goals like before. But as always, SAF found a gem in the rough. Well. actually a dusty gem =)

Nevertheless, every since Owen scored a hat trick against Man city in the 02/03 season (mind you the keeper was our great Peter S), i've always like him. Unfortunately he played for Liverpool back then. But now, I'm just glad he's playing for us, and grateful enough to watch him thrash Wolfsburg. He's got speed alrite, even though not as fast as before. but he sure still remain one hell of striker..

Obertan was another one that was constantly injured and was overlooked by many. He was once, like Owen, one of the most courted youngsters and one of the brightest prospects. Sad enough, injury plagued him as well.
Nevertheless, obi-tan is playing for us now.

Long Live SAF!!

It was Owen who wanted to leave I think. The season he left to join Real Madrid in pursuit of success, Liverpool won the CL! That's why they hated him even before his move to us.

Scholes doesn't want it. Fletcher is younger than Evra. Owen is still new. Carrick is the same age, but Evra got here 6 months earlier.

He was fantastic last night. Playing both as a LB and CB at the same time. I love that little guy, and I'm sure everyone else feel the same way.
