hmnn, you can try like grinding the hikari/azoo and then like smother the cut mp pieces with it and feed guah, this is what i read before that it works for some...cuz it will slowly learn to accept the taste with the mp smile.gif

Thanks.
don't really love bichirs, how bout red parrot?
*
sad.gif lol

parrots oso quite nice tongue.gif

you ask around in lfs loe there are many options to having frenz for your aro.....the only thing is that you have to make sure the size is not bigger than your aro ...preferably like 1/4 the aro's size or smaller but not small enuf for aro to eat it hahaha

WTF?! my LFS sell SW rm1=15... damn expensive... some more frontosa 2.5in they sell rm40 while a fren of mine can get for rm25...

bichirs' how do u call it? err... daily activities or wat? watever it is, they r cute when they eat, swim and pretty much everything... plus, they stay at the bottom n don't really disturb ur aro...

Added on May 21, 2010, 9:27 pm

better not go wif so many at one go... BELIEVE ME... they stink like hell... few reasons:

1- I offer moisture (cucumber/ carrot/apple slice) they dun eat... they eat each other instead...
2- I also put oats in and they eat it... but the rotted cucumber/carrot/apple slice gabung wif it become moldy n start to stink
3- the bodies of the cannibalized SW n the rotted food combined to become:

This is a mathematical solution:
Bodies + rotted food = AlamFlora(1000)
                              =Very smelly x 1000
= THE BEST SMELL EVER... #
*
hahaha totally agree ...a small pack of like rm 2-3 is enuf to last for more than 2 weeks...

but honestly i dun recommend feeding the sw/ml daily la...they really fattening and addictive...

Bichirs are pronounced as 'bi-ke-ers' or rather simple said as 'Bikers'

yep they actually the best with aro since they dont bother aro at all and are kewl in every way...but must be careful when you put with sucker fish la...either the bichir will eat the sucker fish or sucker fish go suck on the bichir's slime coat causing sickness etc...
however some ppl have been successfull with comm'ing suckerfish and bichir together so... whistling.gif lol

do u think that oscar are too fierce to live with aro ??
*
dunno lol....but i'm guessing when the oscar gets big enuf will have to remove it.
if want oscar then you gotta make sure they are very well fed otherwise u will end up with ragged/torn fin aro and other fishes.....oscars = nippy fish
worst case scenario i've witnessed is from some person i read over the net "my aro's eye was plucked by my oscar" .... doh.gif you dont want that to happen rite sweat.gif

for me imho, i wudnt ever put oscar together unless i got huge comm tank lol

parrot fish oso poo as much as oscar lol

thier brains = gobble up everything in sight

but their ability to digest is not so good, thus the crazy amt of poo they generate.

The only difference btw oscar and parrot is that parrot is not as aggressive, but both are like piggish, eat eat eat eat eat!!!! lol

anyhow oso, in the long term you will end up having to take out the oscar wan (but thats like 2-3 years time la)

thats y u dun see the lfs put thier large aros with oscars much...

I wud suggest fei feng if you have the budget tongue.gif
bala shark / kerai fish oso good

You can try angel fish too but bewarned that depending on how your aro's attitude it can likely attack the poor angelfish lol

however my most recommended is "Clown Loach"!!!

they are really cute and funny!!

when i had them i used to see them swim in formation......they really interact with each other like no other fish...and they are not too expensive either tongue.gif

best to get 4-5 of them...cuz in a group is where they thrive best smile.gif

just make sure they are not too small enuf for your aro to eat them haha cuz lfs tend to sell the young ones only...

but for bigger size ones which are not edible by your aro i'd say about rm12 each

wanted to ask, how much is the cheapest tank price for 5x2x2 with solid wood cabinet? is it possible to trade in my 4x1.5x1.5 tank

here are some update of my low gred HBG
*
hmnn the last time i checked around, the lfs wont accept a trade in for old tanks...if you are long term customer with them with good relations, they at most wud offer to keep an eye out for you to help you sell your tank but they will only buy your tank for a seriously low-blow (below the belt) price...for 4x1.5x1.5 tank i'd estimate aprox rm100-200 (with cabinet and depending on what type of aquarium glass yours is made off) is what they will buy off you if they are able to find a buyer who will take it for like rm600-800.

So i'd best advise to try and sell your old aq at trade sites etc...once you have the buyer confirm his/her purchase then you can start to order your new tank which i believe for a 522 tank with cabinet is aprox 2.3k, but i've seen some sell slightly cheaper at 2nd hand aq's at trade sites so u might wana take a look around loe..

Your HBG is not low grade man....i think your tlc has made it into a handsome fella biggrin.gif

it looks pretty buffed biggrin.gif lotsa froggies?

i think the hump like defect is called vip

for spoonhead, they look at the top part of the head, the line can be seen from a side view of the arowana. from the upper lip to the eyes to the body end of the head....its curved slightly downwards and then from the body onwards its normal...thus spoon head...
which makes it look sorta more....stylish lol..like..its got a high class look sorta face tongue.gif

guys, how can i improve my tank water quality? i am not opting for UV filters, costs too much... The tank water became cloudy a few months back... before that water wasn't this green....
[attachmentid=1599831]

This is the bottom of the tank( how to clear? syphon? other ways?):
[attachmentid=1599834]

Thanks
I noe, these are stupid questions, jus wanting to noe are there other ways...
*
bruttha ben,

no question is stupid, only the stupid thinks the ones asking questions are stupid... brows.gif

mmm...for your case ar. i think the cloudy water is probly due to the high bioload (cuz you got quite a lot of heavy eating fish in one tank tongue.gif)

i do not think uv filter wud help your case at all...unless you wana put like seriously big expensive crazy power uv filter...

the algae growing in the 2nd pic i guess it cannot be helped cuz of the fact that your tank is outside so there is plenty sunlight them to grow rapidly...

my suggestions are...get fei feng / more pleco to eat the algae...
as for the cloudy water, ntg much can be done i guess, i can probly suggest getting small rectangle shaped black sponge from the lfs and attach it to the existing powerhead you have inside you tank.

Attaching the sponge to the powerhead sounds simple and ...is very simple nod.gif but the benefits are enormous!! i kid you not!!

not only does it help provide more mech filtration, it also provides bio-filtration, you bb will attach itself to it....
it also traps all the small particles in the water in the sponge, where you can just pull it out and wash it while you do your weekly wc
it will help reduce the amt of work your existing sump filter needs to do...

i know this becuz when i wash my sponge every week, i see a lot of poo/left over pellet particles/etc attached to it get washed out...simple and effective, it might make your water less cloudy tongue.gif

on the contrary i actually like to make my water cloudy (using ocean free pure liquid) lol
i dunno why... unsure.gif clears up in a few short hours anyways...
