if ur filter is mature enough with enough beneficial bacteria, those bacteria will breakdown the ammonia to nitrite and nitrate....

my new coming shrimp tank will be... around 50L water... how many shrimp can keep ? just 1 HOB filter gaodim ? no need airpump ?

if wanna do shrimp only tank, better keep it low tech... no co2, no fert, jz water change more regularly...

50L can put up to 100 cherry shrimps. I read that online. I started with 10 cherrys in my 9.7L tank now left 2m and 2fm only... But the 2 fm got pregnant oredy...

@cata- The eggs won't drop. I try to remove eggs from one ghost shrimp but it is very hard...I don't think its very diferent..

@cata... roughly 1.5FT x 1.5FT..... not to sure now.. need to wait the rack done.. then oni remeasure again then only go to glass shop make..

1.5ft almost same like mine... use a large HOB can liao... bottom intake use sponge filter ahh... to prevent ur baby shrimplets being sucked in... but problem with sponge filter i gets dirty vr fast... when it gets dirty, water flow become less... thats why i recommend u to get the largest HOB and al sufficiently large sponge filter so ur area of filtration is larger (to hold more dirt before getting clogged)....

i got a HOB filter.. 600l/h.. or can i use mesh cover the bottom intake ? and about skimmer.. will it suck baby shrimplets ?

depends on how big is ur mesh.

I'm using those small fish net to tie around my intake, instead of mesh

if dun wan use sponge filter, use pantyhose... mesh still too big... baby shrimplets will still be sucked into the filter.... and best not to use surface skimmer as well....

one problem with shrimp tank is.. it is also a mosquito breeding ground...haha..

the mesh's diameter is about 4mm... can suck shrimplet also ?

newly hatched shrimplet around 2mm long only... mosquito larvae also bigger den them...
