QUOTE(iamyuanwu @ Aug 31 2010, 12:22 AM) How you know? You go poke-poke to check is it? kind of.. but very very gentle la.. and i didnt use my finger its a piece of rolled tissue but compare to my PX100 which even moves when you blow the driver.. i tried blowing on the superlux, and find it rigid like a rock and yea.. superlux really need to be amped well to perform. if you read most of the reviews.. there's one where the reviewer hook it up to a lavry lol and then say that he's amazed with the superlux

I have no issues with hiss since day one with my 681.. hiss comes from the source/hardware. Headphone on its own cannot generate hiss.

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Sep 1 2010, 01:24 PM) weird.. cuz the HD668b i tested also got no hissing sound straight out of the box hmm, have no idea, mine and my friend units both hiss gao gao when it's spranking new after a period of burn in the sound just gone. PS. One tested on akm4396 driven by my speaker amplifier, another tested on TDA1543. This post has been edited by chchyong89: Sep 1 2010, 01:27 PM

mine is tested the same on the akm4396 DAC as well.. but the sponge/foam cover in front of the driver is removed and the dunno_why_is_it_there sticker is removed as well .. but i doubt that removes the hiss.. but your hiss is treated by burn in so its no longer a problem already

I tried it directly to the soundcard too, the bass seem like, a bit no energy. ~力不从心 then i tend to drive it with my F5, the sound is absolutely

My HD681 also no hiss problem straight out of the pack. But I think this cans need amping to bring out their potential. I've tried it directly to my laptop...... the detail is there but the bass department was suffered a lot.
Tak ada umpphh...langsung.
Added on September 1, 2010, 4:19 pmMost of the time I listen to music using a desktop PC where from the on board sound card connected to my old PC speakers that have headphones out and then connected to fiio E5.
PC sound card>Old PC speaker>fiio E5>HD681. The SQ of this setup quiet awesome.
Now I'm looking for new sound card, maybe Asus zonar D1.

i am not sure whether hiss is the proper term ( not a audiophile here ) but its like popping / cracking sound / static noise when the bass reaches a high point and stays there continuously ... This post has been edited by skan1: Sep 1 2010, 04:49 PM

Now thats different! Thats 'clipping'.. you're overdriving the headphone! If thats the case, you need proper headphone amplifier..

Instraco Sdn Bhd in Jalan Pasar is the sole distributor for superlux headphones. But unfortunately hd668b is out of stock. Other model maybe still available.

Recabled to dual entry. Cable held in place using bunched-up rubber bands---works as well any other cable strain relief. Canare plug which is 2x as thick & almost as heavy as the Sony digital audio player (DAP). Blu-tac behind the driver magnet. Added rolled tissue paper in the earpad/cushion. Foam disc and 'acoustic damper' paper removed. A pair of socks over the earpad/cushion so that it doesn't become sweaty and sticky.
