Actually the Toshiba is 47" and IIRC its about 14K++

Saw it at 1U and it looks fantastic. Full HD too.

Does anyone here have a Samsung R7?
When u go into the Service Menu, is the background black or dark blue.

I can't believe how crappy my R7 is. If i view a black JPG on a PS3, it turns out dark blue. Called Samsung and they're gonna send someone over to take a look at it.

Seems like everything i buy has problems. Sucks to be me.

^ Well, yes I can ignore it.. I'm trying. I have to keep reminding myself that its not some RM10K LCD.

For all Standard Def material, its always better to reduce the sharpness.

Err... anyone here going for the MBF Cards deal? Samsung S8 37" @ RM 4300.

I'm so pissed with my R7 that i'm thinking of placing it in the living room and replace it with the Samsung S8.

Like what? Sharp? I can't afford those Sony Bravia X

Went to Best Denki again yesterday..after much contemplation, I got myself a 32" R8.. yup, that's exactly 4 months after i got my R7. So now my R7 goes to my living room.

Was considering the 32" Sharp PX but after looking at if for like 10mins, i noticed it had the same bluish black that drove me crazy on the R7 and it had only 2 HDMI ports. So I went back to the R8.

So far so good. This one doesn't have that bluish black backlight.. Instead this one is slightly greyish. The default setting is way too bright but at least I can adjust the backlight and brightness on this one.

Sigh..took me 2 tries to get a LCD panel that i'm satisfied with. Waste money.

Edit : Anyone knows where to get cheap HDMI cables? The cheapest I've seen is at Jusco selling @ RM 50.

Coming from a R7 (maybe a defective one..but Samsung says is normal!!!) I can say its way better than my previous R7.

I have pictures of my "blue backlight" R7 at home. I'll post them here when i get back.. problem is, they brought a replacement R7 to my house and its the same thing..blue backlight. When i was there at Best Denki last night, the Sharp PX and Samsung S7, S8 (to a lesser degree) panels also exhibit the same blue backlight.. I was told by the sales guy there that its normal..who knows, maybe it is.

So maybe I just like to nit-pick (yes..i'm pretty fussy ) but this R8 that i bought last night does not have that "problem".

^ If these pics are from my R8, I be freaking pissed. No, they're from my "problematic" R7. The R8 is way better in terms of black levels.

If u wanna bring u'r PS3 for testing, try Harvey Normal @ Midvalley Megamall.. I believe they're more than willing to accomodate.

If u observe, the area where those LCDs are being displayed is usually very bright. Try to look at the ceiling, u'll noticed all the bright spotlights. now, there must be a reason for that right? heheh

Or better yet, go to Best Denki @ Midvalley. Walk to the left where they have the Sony's Sharp and Samsungs (go at night)...u'll see the blue backlight in those screens that I've been complaining.

What can I say? The M8, my dream TV..lol, maybe in the next 2 years la.

Actually I googled about this last night after my dad kept complaining why everyone looks "fat" and "stretched" in Astro.
Apparently, we're gonna start HDTV trial in 2009.. Sigh, guess we'll have no choice but to buy HDDVD or Blue ray to satisfy our hunger.

Oh yeah..Samsungs. I was happy with my R8 till my farking neighbour came over and messed up the factory defaults. I've restored them but maybe i'm nuts..but it doesn't look the same anymore..

I'll wait till next year and get myself a 1080p Phillips. No more Samsungs. Screw them, their tech support is useless...technicians only know next to nothing.

Don't believe me? Show me u'r Samsung and I'll gladly show u how u can seriously mess it up... I'm not talking about the usual menu items. I'm talking about the factory service menu.
