Hey Cerebral, I checked out the Hitachi today. The 2 HDMI ports are located behind..not in front.
The thing is, the picture quality is not as vibrant and sharp as the Panasonic. The sales guy said its because the HDMI cable used for the Hitachi is longer than the one used for the Panasonic..thus a decrease in PQ. I find it hard to believe though. QUOTE(CerebralRogue @ Jan 12 2008, 02:26 AM) Checked some reviews online on that as I was also suggested that model by a retailer and the main thing the reviews hated was the fact that 1 of the 2 HDMI ports is located in the front of the TV. Very unsightly. Also it has some weird 1080p resolution as it is not the typical 1900x1080 but something else, something to do with rectangular shaped pixels? |

Don't think our retailers will drop the price any time soon since the new models are only gonna appear in mid-year. Actually Harvey is offering the PV70 for RM5499 with 5 years warranty. So how? U getting the PV70 or u gonna wait.. I thought u bought a LCD TV not long ago too right? What happened to it?

Yep, that's the one.. like i mentioned previously, side by side comparison (store default settings)..its no where as good as the Panasonic PV70.
But after reading about the G11 panels, I guess its best that i hold off buying till the new panels comes out.. Who knows by then, i can afford a 42" 1080p Plasma with 20,000:1 CR. I guess i can live with my crappy Sammy R8 for now. QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 14 2008, 10:57 AM) |

yeah why not, its supposed to come in the middle of this year and like i said previously, prices are continually falling. By mid year, the midrange 11th Gen display (20K:1 CR, 1080p) 42" might actually become affordable for poor sods like me.

^ So how? U buying ah?
U know.. I went there again, and brought my own DVD there for testing. Well...to cut the long story short, they have a 1080p DVD player upscaler but they hooked it up using component..duh, so no upscaling and i watched it at 480p. I can't say i'm impressed. The colors are not as strong (which is good) as my Samsung R8 but that's about it..the colors "look" very similar...granted the unit there wasn't calibrated. They do have Superman Returns on Blu-ray playing on a 50" 1080p Panny display and that looks fabulous. |

I think it depends on how long my sister's CRT TV can last.
Cerebral : Where are u gonna go test it? If anytime before Wed, we can go together.. After Wed, I'll be stuck in Pattaya for the entire week. Darn it. I hate that place. |
