Ah interesting. It may be handy to note the Philips only maxes out at 1024x768 for PC connections. For native 720p MPEG2 content I usually use the free upscaling DVD player I got since it supports MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX 3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, DivX 6.0, DivX Ultra.

In that case, using a player (or PS3) would be the best case for this unit. Of course, if you can afford an LCD/plasma that supports higher PC resolutions that's much better.

Erm, 1024X768 is not native u know. There must be some settings that u missed.

The Sharp Smart Stretch is nothing new la. This mode stretches the sides more than the center to create an illusion that the person in picture is not too far stretched. They can do this on normal TV programs where the cameraman is sure to deadlock their object in the center of the frame. It doesnt work well for movies.

Ah excellent info Saiga and redken. I was beginning to be disappointed with my TV LOL.

Thanks!

Dun worry la. All LCD TVs are made equal because each panel kinda inherited the drawbacks of the technology itself. No matter how hard they mask it under layers of marketing, it will still look obvious, even on really expensive sets.

The dissapointment sets in when this whole HD novelty starts to wear thin. Most probably not on the quality of the set, but more on the value of acquiring such a novelty toy that somehow suddenly seems to be so redundant.

Yeah that's true - however each manufacturer will put in a few quirks of their own I suppose.

The novelty of HD won't wear thin as long as there's HD media to display, in my case, games for the 360. I don't really care for buying BD or HDDVD movies right now, but seeing Lost Planet or Gears on my LCD really brings a smile to my face smile.gif

I play my PC games on my TV too. But i dun quite see the perspective as yourself.

I am really curious on your above statement..i guess if all the lcd tv is created equal...i might be as well be buying the china brand lcd tv...and most of the videophile reviewers for the different models will be the same too (which is not true..as different model been rated differently by those videophile reviewers)...wonder if that statement is made out from your disappoinment that most people keep buying the lcd tv and start enjoying the HD worlds....which will never be redundant if u do own the xbox 360 or PS3...and can afford either the HD-DVD or BD movies..now, u r making me laugh on such a childish statement.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Excuse my bloatness, but making reference to reviews have never been the benchmark of oh goodness. Which i may imply that it somehow contradicts with ur look for ur own good self statement. That little glitch aside, may i remind u that there is no restriction to whatever any forumer is entitled to say or not to say, especially when no lines have been cross. While some people like to violate and taunt what have never been theirs, it's of tantamount importance that others keep health in mind. And with proper respect, i would be glad that a milder choice of language is used.

While some people would drive themselves to Boston to have themselves some lobster, that alone doesnt make them wise. Although the monitor stares u straight in a line, but think and ponder, is it possible to read between them. Taunt and think eh?

If 1080p is going mainstream, this would mean 720p is going to perish. Somewhere in the horizon awaits a new tech. So get ur wallet ready. New tech here i come.

I tried Superman Returns this morning and he looked so dull..Duh. All the colors are so messed up. I guess i have no choice. Sigh... cry.gif

Neordi : Once u mess with the factory menu, the warranty is void. Believe me when i say u can seriously mess up the colors in the service menu. U wanna learn how? I can show u.  tongue.gif

U go and mess with the factory settings menu le? It's like a DOS in there. Tweaking which would lead to dismal quality. But i doubt that ur warranty or mobo is dead though.

Sammy's onboard image processing chip has been condemned to death in many forums. Perhaps u can ask the technician to disable it at some point to put an end to ur nightmares.

That what I was thinking. But since my anniversary is just a couple more months after I bought the Tv. I can just ask my wife to buy it for me.  laugh.gif Just in time for metal gear solid. I still have my wii to play with in the mean time. Smash bros at my house.
*
If if floats ur boat. Imagine, if u already have a PS3 by then, u can ask for a full fledge HD surround. Now aint tat nice. Last i recall, HD gaming doesnt do well with tiny sounds.

What to do. I live in small apartment not a house. I don't think I need surround sound with my kid sleeping and all. If not, I'll buy a wireless headphone or something (they do have that right sweat.gif)

Er, i think got. Brand is Zalman, but that was meant for the PC and it's not wireless. Well, we cant have everything can we. I am waiting for the white PS3 as well.
