I saw Philips 42" LCD tv with full HD 1080p at Queensbay Jusco selling at RM6999. Is this for real???  ohmy.gif

I thought full HD 1080p LCDs would go over RM10k right? Philips is really making a surprise here.
*
Yup, you saw that right. The prices for 1080p panels are coming down now thumbup.gif

Hi guys, I was at Best denki and I saw a Panasonic TH42PX70. 42' 1080p for RM5200. Now I need to ask the opnioin of people who own a big tv but have small rooms. My living room is only around 5- 7 feet. I am not that sure. So will the tv be too big since the space is too small. Or should I stick with a 32' instead. Thanks.

P:s that panasonic is really 1080p or just a chipset that can go to 1080p?
*
If you have that kind of budget, want a full hd and your viewing distance is 5-7 feet, I would suggest that you get the 37" Philips full hd. Cash price is RM4700 and if you're paying by card with 0% interest installment it's RM5000 at a shop in SS2 PJ. You can demo them at Best Denki but they're selling them at RM5499.

guys...forget about plasma and lcd tv...new hdtv technology is coming...the laser tv

If you decide to wait for it to come out I'm pretty sure that it'll be very expensive and when the price do starts to fall, a newer technology will surely be on the horizon and the waiting game begins again. If you have the means to get the current range of HDTV I would suggest you do so and enjoy the full glory of high definition TODAY biggrin.gif

Wow... I think my wife and I would go for this. Can you give the the address of that shop. Is cheaper than Denki. Is it really full HD than a chipset that can go up to 1080p?
*
Yup, it's the real deal 1080p full hd panel. Check out my post a few pages back for some of their other prices and the direction to their shop.

The picture quality is awesome! thumbup.gif

Then again, I'm not very fussy with picture quality. My old R7 looks very good to me as well, no complains about them laugh.gif

since christmas is around the corner and my renovation house is almost complete, thinkin of getting a full home theater..already decided to get one of the BOSE 5.1 system but dont know wat LCD TV to get..currently using 26'' samsung r7..thinkin of getting a bigger and better since my room is big..so wat best LCD TV to get around rm10k ?..and also is there anything better then the BOSE system ?..
*
BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment tongue.gif

If you have in excess of RM3k to blow on sound equipment, I'd suggest you head over to Desa Home Theater or Tong Lee at Lowyat ground floor and have a look at brands like Yamaha, Denon, KEF, JBL, Infinity, etc. I haven't been there for quite some time so I wouldn't be able to recommend any specific models.

As for the LCD, you can get a 42" Full HD from Philips or Samsung for under RM10k. If you want something better then check out the Sharp Aquos A83 series which will cost you a few grand more.

I just came back from the newly opened Courts in Mutiara Damansara. It's located between Petronas and McDonalds, opposite Tesco. IMO they have the largest number of HDTV on display there compared to other electical chains. There's also quite a number of BD and HD DVD players there. A great place to compare different models of HD DVD but their prices is similar to Best/HSL/SenQ.

Just saw an advertisement about Sharp Aquos 19" LCD TV. SRP is RM1500++

Anyone use this Sharp Aquos 19" to play the PS3?
Any drawback?

Playing PS3 on 15" CRT, make my poke out....... shocking.gif

It's a decent display but that's kinda expensive for an 19". With that kind of money you can get a Dell 22".

Once again I appeal to Lowyat.net's VGA gurus' in helping me purchase an LCD TV. Initially I wanted the samsungs F8 series 46". Price at Legend HIFI (SS2, near murni) is RM17200. Problem is it's way above my credit card limit. Right now the 40" is looking pretty sweet. The sony is at RM9100, Samsung should be around same price. Which should I get????? Help please, thank you.
*
If you're looking for a sub-RM10k display, the 40" Sony W series 1080p would be a good choice. If you prefer slightly larger real estate then check out the 50" LG Plasmas which is around RM7-9k biggrin.gif

Anyone knows how to join astro split unit to LCD.Hmmm.. how to describe this. I got my main astro unit at lower floor, so for my own room at 1st floor, I am using a Astro splitter to connect to my ex. TV. The problem now is that when I connected it to my new LCD, it seems that the LCD don;t have channel 00. So I can't watch astro from it. Any advice? Thanks
*
What kind of cable is it? Try to cycle through the inputs for the TV, ASTRO should be one of them if the cable that you're using is supported by the TV biggrin.gif

1 noob question here ?tongue.gif
is lcd monitor only support until 720p max only?
i am thinking about getting Dell SP2208WFP lcd monitor for my PS3.
is there any other brand lcd monitor  u guy can recommend for me?? biggrin.gif
*
That particular model will accept a 1080p signal from the PS3 and downconvert it to 1050p. This monitor is highly recommended. Quite a number of forumers are using it with their PS3 biggrin.gif

Any particular reason why you'd want an LCD TV instead of an LCD monitor? Most of the 19" monitors are below RM1000 and you can get the Dell 22" for under RM1300.

don't know whether its true or not... rclxub.gif

That model is not full hd according to the Philips website. The 37" and 42" PFL7422 are full hd models so I guess when they see the "PFL7422" model on the 32" they assumed it is full hd as well doh.gif

i thought that S series can upscale to 1080p also rite (via component)..?

Nope, it's the other way round actually. The TV can accept 1080p input and then downscale it to the native resolution of the TV.
