Yep its true, however you can still open the account without ATM card, and tell them you'll pick up the ATM card later when its available. After that usually they will magically be able to find a card for you

Its their job to try to upsell you, you can just insist you want to open that account as its listed on their website. I think its actually a Bank Negara regulation that all banks must provide an option for savings account with no fees, which is why most banks have it but try their best to cover it up with their other more profitable choices.but rhb staff told that no more normal ATM!?..must take debit card which cost rm20 annually...
