With the hot crazy weather in Malaysia, I was wondering if tinting the house window would help in reducing the UV and IR heat from entering the house, does anyone have any experience in this and any contact for a reliable tinting company?

Thanks

no help, the curtain still spoil because of the sunlight. tinting just help to block visibility from outside into the house during daytime.

and try not to use the reflective tint ..it will make the outside hotter and not enviro friendly too..increase global warming ..choose those dark tint if needed. smile.gif just my 2 cents

Hi my current house is tinted and it makes the house cooler and UV protection. During day time, outside ppl cannot see in but at night it can be seen by outside.

I am wondering, is there any windows tint that can prevent outside ppl see in at both daytime and night?

if u talking about window protective film like llumar or v-kool, they are safe only if your other entry point of your house are equally strong n secure from intrusion, otherwise don waste too much money on this window tinting as the heat usually more from the roof.

i tinted my house windows with ray-barrier (max grade) - had a significant effect cause we have a ton of big windows that allow sunlight into the house. but i agree roof is the number one factor. you could also plant trees for shade near the windows...

you can install any car tint. i did that too and it's a lot cheaper than tiniting the car. personally i dont believe so much in v-cool so much any more (been using it in two cars but now i switched to 3M crystaline - it seems to perform better). ray-barrier for the whole house was around the price of a car tint. got it direct from the company, they came measures, quoted and installed quick freindly and efficiently. replaced one window cause got some dust stuck inside too. whole house just a few hours.

Hi PJusa,

Can you provide the contact for the tinting company?

Roughly how many sqf of windows that you tinted? If it is the same as the car tint price (below RM2K I assume), I think it is very reasonable.

My house is having one side facing west. The next house is about 20 feet from me. I am thinking to tint my windows to reduce the heat from afternoon sun. Appreciate if you could share your experience.

I believe Kristalbond will do the same trick. Question is, how much are they charging?

i spoke with them. it was expensive and i thought it wont be worth the cost.

i tinted around 320 sqft of windows if memory serves me. i dont have the pricing but it was cheaper than tinting me sedan with 3M crystaline. so i guess below 2k. i used raybarrier - the max grade from ecotint. they have cheaper options too. got all done directly from them - my contact was pauline lau (012-283 7395). she was (is?) the head of commercial&residential.

good luck.

My house living room and master room also have very big window.
I tinted the window, roughly RM5.50 per sqft and effect is quite good.

Like other said, of coz the no.1 factor is from the roof but tinted helped too.
