LIVERPOOL LEGEND ALAN HANSEN HAILS PEPE REINA AS A SAVIOUR

FORMER Liverpool great Alan Hansen says the club would be further down the Premier League if it were not for the brilliant form of goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The outspoken former defender even rates the Spaniard in the same class as Ray Clemence, widely accepted as the club’s all-time greatest keeper.


The BBC pundit said: “Pepe has been invaluable to Liverpool again this season, and, for me, should now be considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers Liverpool have had.


“He’s right up there with Ray Clemence and it’s probably just as well because if we didn’t have a keeper as good as Reina, we could have been in serious trouble this season.


“Liverpool’s back four have struggled at times this season, but if you have a back four that’s struggling, with a dodgy keeper behind them, then it’s the end of the story.


“Our back four have struggled but Pepe has been a tower of strength. He’s been a model of consistency.


“If he had a weakness when he first came to Liverpool, it was when the ball was in the air, coming across him quickly.

“Initially he had one or two problems with those type of crosses but his judgement is now a lot ­better. In terms of every other quality you need to have as a keeper, Reina is right at the top of the tree.


“He is reliable, dependable and makes great saves.”


Hansen is looking for the team to start the recovery in Saturday’s Anfield clash with Manchester City.


“The players need to achieve a level of consistency to do that, and if they want an example to follow they need look no further than their goalkeeper.”

after d world cup qualification ends...i just realized that alot of our players will be involved in d world cup which most prob r Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Riera, Gerrard, Mash, Kuyt, Torres and with d possibility of Aurelio, Insua, Lucas, Babel, Aqua and  Dossena joining them. we'll defo be f***ed next season....
