Oic, guess it's better for him to just change the mobo altogethers then.

TS: Try overclocking your athlonx2, 2.8ghz is easily attainable even with stock cooling. It will make a good match with 4670/4830/4770/4850.

150 buck for a phenomx4 is quite a bargain. If you are comfortable with OC, I suggest that you get it from ur fren, of coz only if ur mobo can support it thru a bios update.

2.2ghz is easily attainable.

TS, why would you want to get the outdated k8 dualie again? Especially considering you're already using 1 urself

im afraid, like another forumer pointed out, that my mobo cant support phenom or any AM2+ procs.

oh, if you got the 3600+ to 2.5ghz already then I suggest you just stick to it.

it's good enough at that speed and doesn't warrant you changing to others like X2 5200+ and or higher range processors. the difference would be minimal.

IF you didn't increase the CPU Vcore, overclocking your cpu wont use up more wattage. Actually I even undervolting while overclocking my brizzy. More performance and less TNB bills for free. icon_rolleyes.gif

i cant remember whether i upped the vcore or not hmm.gif

well, upping the vcore or not, that's the max i can go anyway iianm. tried to bump to 1.3~1.4v but still 2.5Ghz max stable sweat.gif

Strange... 2.5ghz max oc is not consistent with what we normally see from windsor. hmm.gif

either one:

1. my board is limiting me
2. my RAM (last time use 1GB DDR2 667Mhz) is limiting me
3. heat

as for RAM, i guess im using a lower divider, as u can see the RAMs didnt even reach its own stock speed (@625Mhz). so higher probability is that the board is limiting me.

well at AMD OC club down there, i see that goldfries too had his OC around 2.5Ghz when he was using 3600+ last time. and he's using Nforce 550 too iianm.

I just notice that your Windsor is a F2, else you will be able reach to 3ghz easily sweat.gif

Anyways, 2.5ghz is good enuf to pair up with a 4470 ady, good luck in your graphic card shopping biggrin.gif

haha thanks bro for all the advice smile.gif

one more thing, is it worth the trouble for me to RAID-0 the hard disk with another low capacity hard disk? probably with another 80GB or 160GB. or just wait for Caviar Black just like another forumer mentioned?

Yes you can but its performance would clearly behind that of a RAID array based on identical hard drives. IIRC, some1 care to clarify?

well i do acknowledge that hardware RAID > software RAID, it's just that im thinking whether it's worth the trouble or not. if the Caviar Black performs similar to it then i'd better wait for it (wait for the money to buy it). smile.gif

Oic, I don't think a RAID 0 of 2 small hdd will give much performance boost. Consider the limited space too I don't think that it's worth the hassle.

I had heard from my frens that the Samsung F1 Spinpoint 1 TB perform better then the Caviar Black, tho Im not sure abt this as I had never use Samsung.

Or you might wanna try 2 WD 500gb in RAID 0, really recommended thumbup.gif

i thought of using that RAID-0 drives for the OS, and when i got the money next time i'll just buy a normal 1 tera hard disk. hmm.gif

may i know why it's slow? is it because of the rpm?

Not just the rpm, the platter sizes matter too IIRC.

thanks for the info. i just bought the Sapphire 4770 smile.gif

i got a new problem now, my PC couldn't start. went into BIOS, configured the clock etc, and then save the settings.

after restart, there's no beep coming out from the board and the 4770 fan speed is running at full rpm sad.gif
