Driving in Langkawi for 400KM is alot more different from like example KL to Alor Setar.

Much enjoyable in Langkawi. Free and easy with no rushing. If couldn't complete the listing items then plan another round. Do it until you happy smile.gif

Langkawi Trip - Bird Paradise & Wildlife Park

This is a MUST visit place if you are into getting close with animals and birds!! I did not plan to visit this place but i just happened to pass by on my way to Oriental Village, but this is the one of the most worth-ed ticket that I had paid for during my stay at Langkawi.

user posted image

This park is located right beside the main road. With a Langkawi map or GPS in hand it would be quite easy to spot. Entrance ticket costs RM12 and food for feeding the animals costs RM6. The Zon duty free is also located here if you plan to stock up some duty free items.

As you enter the premises you will be greeted with birds and animals roaming freely, and some in cages. It's the first time in my life that I've come SO close to these animals and it is really enriching. The food that is sold earlier when we entered can be used to feed the animals. Different animals/birds have different preferences so be sure to test them out!

user posted image

user posted image

We also had the chance to go really really close with peacocks in another enclosure! It's my first time seeing male peacocks showing off their lovely feathers so up close! But be careful though, they might bite.

user posted image

After going through all the birds we entered another section which hosted a field of rabbits, as well as donkeys. This has GOT to be the most fun filled section of the whole park. The rabbits here are allowed to roam freely on a small patch of land and there is a nursery at the corner where they house baby rabbits which are absolutely adorable!

Because the island hopping package don't include snorkelling one. The only nice place to do snorkelling is at pulau payar. Unless you want to see ikan bilis and other small fishes then everywhere around the island also can find laugh.gif

Langkawi Trip - Oriental Village & Cable Car @ Gunung Mat Cincang

After leaving the wildlife park I made my to the Oriental Village (located near Pantai Kok) which is where the famous Langkawi cable car (Gunung Mat Cincang) is situated. One of the popular resorts located here is Berjaya Resorts and these lucky visitors don't have to travel far to get to this popular attraction.

As you make your way to the car park, you will be greeted by the very obvious entrance.

user posted image

Some snapshots around the 'village'. There is also another animal feeding place here but it's definitely not as fun as the one at the Langkawi Wildlife Park.

user posted image

Another interesting attraction in this place is a cafe which houses a life tiger! This is my first time seeing a tiger sooooo close to me. What's seperating me and getting eaten by that tiger is just that very thin glass. Managed to snap a shot tongue.gif

user posted image

After the casual walkaround we went on to the counter to get our tickets. For Malaysians the ticket price is RM15 per person and the cable car ride closes at 8pm. Of course I stayed till the very last minute before coming down tongue.gif

user posted image

user posted image

In total there are 2 stops for the cable car ride. From the foot of the hill to the first peak. And from the first peak to the 2nd peak. A panoramic picture below illustrates my point better. Once you reach the 2nd peak only you can head over to the bridge.

user posted image

The ride up to the station is really steep. I am amazed how those engineers somehow managed to even build this thing! After about 10 minutes we reached the peak. Mind you the ride can be pretty bumpy as the carriage approaches the station.

At 625 metres above sea level, the temperature drops to about 16-18 degrees Celcius and it's absolutely refreshing and chilling.

The first thing that I did when i was to head over to bridge. Little did i know that I had to do steep climb down before i could reach my destination. Likewise, it's a steeper climb back up! Like what i said in my Pulau Dayang Bunting post, if you want to explore this place, better come when you are fit!

Views of the bridge:

user posted image

After spending enough time on the bridge we headed back up to the second station and went up the platforms to get a higher view of the surroundings and a better view of the sunset with the view of the Andaman sea, which was why I chose to come this place at this time.

user posted image

After waiting until about 7.15pm, the sun finally turned into a orange egg yolk and slowly set.

I only left the place about 7.45pm. By that time all the tourists have gone down and i got to enjoy the cool breeze and exquisite all by myself with friends.

Langkawi Trip - Harbour Point

After enjoying the scenic and the amazing sunset at Gunung Raya, I then headed to Harbour Point for my dinner as my friend recommended me the KFC restaurant here. She's a self proclaimed KFC expert and claims that this KFC is one of the best that she had ever tasted. So my friends and I went to test her theory. True enough, the chicken's here are relatively larger and juicier.

user posted image

Okay back to the main attraction. Harbour Point is actually a jetty nearby Kok Beach (Pantai Kok) which hosts a fleet of beautiful yachts and boats. I believe this is where the sunset cruises take off. Too bad i can't really afford to try one of those packages. Will certainly come back one day.

Langkawi Trip - Four Points Resort by Sheraton

Moving on to my 2nd stop of my resort hopping in Langkawi brings me to Four Points Resort!

From outside, this looks like a plain looking resort with not too fancy decorations. However, once you step foot inside you will be pleasantly amazed.

As you walk past the lounge, you will pass by the restaurant and some of the accomodation...

Pass that pool is the private beach of the resort which is big enough to be converted into a futsal area.

All in all this is good place to stay at Langkawi if you are looking somewhere at a middle ranged budget.

Langkawi Trip - Melati Cafe

This is also another breakfast only place, similiar to the Breakfast Bar, so it only opens its doors in the morning and until noon. Food selection wise is average. The teh tarik tastes a bit overcooked and the other food tastes pretty average. On the plus side the price of the food is rather acceptable.

Langkawi Trip - Datai Bay (The Datai & Andaman)

As I continue to explore all the corners of Langkawi island, this has brought me to Datai Bay which is located at the very north-western tip of the island. The journey to this area takes about 1 hour from Pantai Cenang and as you get closer to the destination, the roads start to narrow and become more and more curvy. Since it is quite close to Thailand at this point, you may even get reception from Thailand and the local mobile operators will start sending SMS to your phone to notify you of Malaysia's embassy number lol.

Since it is quite hard to get here and this place is far from the tourist attractions, this place remains exclusive to the rich and those who desire absolute privacy in their holiday get away. There are only 2 resorts here if I'm not mistaken, The Datai and Andaman.

Let's start off with The Datai. According to some notice board in their resort, they are the best smallest resort in Malaysia. And this is on a world ranking basis mind you.

user posted image

user posted image
Due to its exclusivity and small lobby area, it is quite hard to move around without attracting any attention. The staffs here are also pretty strict on their privacy policy. If you are not the guest kindly remain ONLY in the lobby or go away.

Feeling a disappointed since we can't see much, we moved on to Andaman which was about 500 metres before The Datai. I was quite determined to visit the beaches at Teluk Datai.

Since this place is much larger than The Datai, it was easier to sneak down stairs and head to their beach. =P

p/s: There is actually a public beach before The Datai & Andaman but i only noticed it on my way out.

zstan, after you post all, please do a conclusion on which beach is the best biggrin.gif

Tanjung Rhu? Cenang? Datai? Kok? or? heheh
*
Can i conclude now? laugh.gif

Water wise all almost the same. Be careful of jelly fish though. i almost swam into one at cenang.

Sand smoothness Tanjung Rhu is the worst. Cenang & Datai equal. didn't manage to try pantai kok & tengah but should be more or less the same gua? but pantai cenang is more happening at night compared to the rest of the beaches.

The waves at Four Points Resort that you will be staying at is much more calmer as there is a wave breaker located in front of the beach (about 800m-1km away). Some people would prefer this as well for relaxation as you won't hear the waves crashing on to do beach while you are resting beside. biggrin.gif
