Just called helang but is fully booked due to langkasuka doing some renovation and all guest transfer over to helang. So any place to recommend me to stay around helang pricing and nearby airport or cenang?

Anyway the beer over there is cheaper than soft drinks. My last trip to langkawi ~ 2007, a can of calsberg still ~ RM1.20-RM1.40 if u buy from hawker ctr. From duty free slightly cheaper ~ RM1-RM1.10. Asahi & other imported beers like heineken (I'm not sure about German), is ~RM1.60-RM2 (Can't really recall liao..probably recent visitors can correct me on this.

So why worry if u wanna get drunk..but better do it in hotel... smile.gif Too bad I'm not a heavy drinket just occasionally nia..I dun like beer actually blush.gif

Added on March 27, 2010, 7:41 amThe nearest to airport is this two hotels.. & the nxt closest will be 1.5km North of Langkasuka i.e Langkawi Lagoon & Perdana beach resort..Not sure the pricing but for sure Langkawi lagoon is not within Helang rate.

Cenang is abit far South, 6km away from the airport..where starting point at Pelangi - aslo very preicey..& theeafter lotsa budget acc to choose...just take anyone-lah & try..lotsa ppl having good review on malibest..well not sure how good..u can try..

Well that's what u call Duty free-mah & the fact that Sin drinks & cigars is heavilly taxed (Not sure the actual rate but for sure >100%) getting 70% & more discounted rate those seller still making profit mah...

In Langkawi, in any hawker ctr, in Kuah, most of the customers will order beers instead of Drinho/F&N...bcos beer only cost RM1.20 whereas drinho RM1.80 (2007 price-lah)

Chocolates, cooking wares & etc..not much discount..i dun really check probably ~ 20-30% off.

For perfume..well langkawi really a joke...I bought a CK one 200ml wth ~ 20% discount on the so called tax free pricing of ~ RM220..Happy wth it & come back KL & checked the price is exactly the same..haizzz..Recently my friend bought for me the same CK one at Metrojaya sales for only RM120!

For electronics, camera, PC & notebooks..no point there also..KL Lowyat better pricing

I remember when i was there back 2007 i stayed at eagle bay for rm90 a night then free another night for me. Went through the car rental agent of cause, i think walk in i would have paid much more or i have been con? Paid 30ringgit to him as commission and the rest to the hotel rm60 and got one night free.

Then i when back during 2008, stayed at boutique during peak season, everything was so expensive. So this year im going again end of april which is a low season hopefully its cheap. I was eyeing langkasuka and helang but now fully booked...arggh.... sad.gif

Chocolates should be fairly cheap but how idunnolol said it the booze is the highlight.

Seafood is cheap and good (research on food blogs) to avoid disappointment.

No-lah seafood pricing is almost Klang Valley pricing. Over in langkawi only Cigars, liquour & chocolates having higher than usual price gaps follow by cookingwares & lastly perfume (Which I dun find the price really interesting). Others such asrestaurant food pricing & etc...slightly cheaper or similar to KL.

Haihh...those are built for tourist and also price must be for tourist lah. Try those restaurant at Padang Mat Sirat, Belanga Pecah, Kedawang, all are restaurant not warung, but still you can find 80 cents for ice tea and Rm2.80 for fried rice what. This is back in 2008.

Great you figure it out. Just ask reception of your hotel and they know when and where pasar malam on that day.
