iirc the driver for Vista is super old (the initial release), and the driver for Win7 is newer, but requires u to flash the BIOS to latest under Vista...
*
Strange support from benq doh.gif
BTW, if s42 (or other hardware) doesn't support 64bit os, they should notify the customer at their website... I've just received a reply from benq malaysia stating that there are no support for 64bit os for the time being sad.gif

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Nov 16 2009, 10:48 AM)
the official driver from benq site can be used, but do note that if u are using the W7 version(v187), you'll have to flash ur bios to 1.20 in VISTA ENVIRONMENT..it's proven in benyouhui that flashing in other OS will fail..mine flash half way straight away shut down..showing 1.20, but i don think the flashing is complete..
*
Have to install vista first, this is a hassle sweat.gif

QUOTE(astria @ Nov 16 2009, 10:49 AM)
go home.. that's wat everybody is doing...

Added on November 16, 2009, 10:51 am

u'll need to flash if u want to install BenQ's driver... but u can skip that if u install modded driver...

a new BIOS usually irons out bugs that are found after the computer has been put on sale...
*
IF install driver that come with notebook, should not have any problem with bios right?

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Nov 16 2009, 10:52 AM)
@eastwest: the new driver would require u to flash bios already...whether u using W7 or vista, doesnt matter, still need to flash..however bios can only be succesfully flashed in vista

@astria: like that a...i dunno liao..haha
*
new driver refering to which version? how come we need to flash bios just to install new version for gpu? Desktop doesn't have this problem afaik rclxub.gif

QUOTE(miahahaha @ Nov 16 2009, 10:52 AM)
well, 190.38 & 190.15 work well with S42...while the others i'm not sure ohmy.gif
32-bit can use driver from BenQ website...and yes still can use the hybrid power option nod.gif
*
190 series is a modded driver?

QUOTE(miahahaha @ Nov 16 2009, 10:54 AM)
just flashed my BIOS from 1.20 to 3.06...now only using 9600M GT card and quite satisfied with the temp nod.gif..

Using 195.39 now icon_idea.gif...

@eastwest: the new version refers to the official W7 driver, iirc is 187.8x?
i think in that driver they tweaked how the switching work or something like that..so need bios update..
and yes, to do that, u'll need to install vista first..i plan to do that also..but my vista DVD missing again zzzzz

i'm using windows 7 64bit ....but have to reformat and install again because first time installation, I didn't format the linux partition... I thought after install 7 can use linux with dual boot option but it does not work doh.gif

Maybe install with 32 bit os after this, depend on situation wink.gif
