QUOTE(scirocco @ Nov 13 2009, 10:58 AM) ming, for hybriding dont need to use those la. just go for the usual synthetic guts ie gosen, prince or gamma... in many cases it does not mean that if something is more expensive the better it is. read around and you'll find that one of the best hybrid crosses are the gosen syn gut or prince syn gut. Hey scirocco, You said read around and you'll find the best hybrid ................. Hmmmm..... but I prefer to "PLAY" around more to know which is the best. I'm sure many guys here would agree wif me. So Pinky which one you prefer? read around or "PLAY" around? (man this smiley is cute) kekekekeke...

i could not agree with you more. but seeing as we cannot go around playing every single string (with possible exception of Yan... ), reviews are a great way to narrow down the field. another point in which i agree it is not wise to reply entirely on reviews can be subjective as one man's meat is another's poison holds as true in tennis as it does elsewhere. what suits a player with flat strokes may be awful to one with heavy topspin. the point i was trying to bring up by asking ming to read around is that if my opinions strikes you as being difficult to swallow, it can be corroborated by other people's opinions. but incidentally i have tried the POSG, PSGD and gosen syn guts in hybrids. the POSG and gosens feel similar, but the PSGD is a bit firmer. Today's weather looks cloudy. Sad to say this but I think it'll rain in the evening. So who are the fellas going for a whack in Sunway tomorrow morning? I think I can't make it tomorrow morning. I'll compensate by going for Sunday morning.

Hello guys,
...just came back from langkawi late yesterday... nice vacation, except I dragged my racquets all the way there for nothing! ...no people playing, which I should have guessed since people go to langkawi for the surf and sun, and not to chase yellow fuzzy balls around... ah well, at least had a few days rest and relaxation...
...hope here this weekend is better weather-wise... will lurk around the mbmb courts bushes hoping to catch some tennis players and hit with them, whether they like it or not... too desperate already...

ming, actually i find the syn guts without the duraflex/wearguards to be better hybrid strings as they are softer and better able to tone down the polys/kevlar mains. thats not to say the duraflex/wearguards are no good, just a crisper/firmer feel that i think works better in a full bed than a hybrid. nope, only 1 pack more of PSGD. all others sold. but the gamma seems to wear quite quickly, last week i showed someone (was it kev???) the strings he thought i played like months with it when in fact i only used it for 2 sessions. the wearguard spirals were peeling, and although it didn't affect playability (it plays well btw) does look like breaking soon, but so far still holds out, so dunno lah, maybe it just looks like that. the psgd i used by comparison still looked fresh after 2 mths. Hmmm this is just a point of view I dunno if I would recommend a Hybrid of poly mains and a multi, I personally didn't like it the multi's as they frayed to the core and 'popped' like a pimple when playing, but as scirocco its a personal preference they isn't a right or wrong in string choice, go with what works for you, I just strung up my Pro Staff 95 with Signum's Tornado, it was just too tempting as I wanted to try this 3rd generation poly with a old skool racket, I dunno if will regret as the original strings in my Pro Staff was VS gut but old VS gut lol I think got 4 months, ahh what the heck, rite? Oh yhaaa this is a personal first I use to string this racket at 68lbs when I was playing in school, I have just strung this at 60 lbs LMAO, as I have read Signum is really soft, how soft I dunno, hopefully can test today but as right now while I am typing its POURING cats and dogs! Will post short review later if can, k~! Pics are below: Attached thumbnail(s)

prae, i think u misunderstood me, i'm a full syn gut user, but i do happen to have tried a few hybrids when i was checking out the polys just out of curiosity. hybrids i have used included lux BB alu 16/wilson sensation, topspin cyberblue/gamma tnt2, SPPP/PSGD, topspin cyberblue/PSGD. i tried so many hybrids as full polys felt too stiff to me, and remembering my kevlar days, i remembered how a stiff string can be hybrided with a softer cross to retain most of the control yet with much more comfort. but ultimately my experimentation came to an end when i found that the polys lost elasticity within a month or so... No harm, no foul :-p I am all for hybridizing, if you don't try you won't know. I like Gosen Micro sheep (can't remember exact name, but I know it was cheap in a reel, something like USD29.99 for a reel) , that worked well in a lot of poly's, if you used the Gosen as a cross.
