Ohh thanks. Since the promotional rate for the pbb day2day is over now. This means I will get 0.8% for groceries and petrol and 0.3% for other retail purchases right? The rebate rates are actually very low. =.= spend 10k and you only get back rm30
Eh ? Is it over now ? I thought it is valid till 31 December 2009 ?

Yes. After the promotional period, you will only get 0.8% of cash rebate for groceries and petrol. As for all other retail purchases, it remains unchanged at 0.3%.

As for whether it can be used for Paypal, I am not sure. But I am more inclined that it can't do so, at least Maybank debit card can't.
Maybank VISA debit card can be used for Paypal.

maybank debit card will link to account?is there any maybank debit card no link to our saving account??
Unfortunately no. You might however, consider debit cards from other banks that do not link your debit card to your savings/current account held with them such as Public Bank.

I thought in the newspaper it says until 31st March.
Yes. They say the promotion will run till 31/3/2010 in both their brochure as well as the newspapers but according to their website, the 2% cash back is valid only until 28/2/2010 rclxub.gif

The annual fee of RM20 is very high in my opinion. The annual fee of their existing Cash Connect debit Mastercard and My Cash-i debit Mastercard is only RM15/pa and the normal cash back is exactly the same at 0.5%. Now that they have introduced this new VISA debit card, does that mean they will soon stop issuing the debit Mastercard hmm.gif

Is the 0.5% uncapped?
No. The maximum rebate per card is only RM30 during the promotion (2%). Not sure if there is still a cap after the promotional period.

i have problems with my rhb cash connect n pb day2day card..i can't verify both of the cards for online purchase..whenever i wanna register my day2day visa i get the message "Your account has been locked" while for cash connect it says invalid login

what causes this..can somebody help me?
For Public Bank Day2Day VISA, you will need to register for Verified by VISA on their website. You account has been locked most probably due to you have entered an invalid information more than 3 times. Call their credit card centre and ask them to unlock the card. No worries, it happened to me before. They can unlock your card right away.

Before you register for Verified by VISA, make sure you read this first before registering for it and follows the instructions > FAQ

I think this card would suit me better since It is link to a saving account and I click transfer money to it while it is usable as an atm card.. am I right?
Yes. It works as both debit card and ATM card. It also gives you 0.8% cash back when you use it to pay for fuel or swipe it at supermarket. All other transactions will give you 0.3% cash back.

By the way, regarding the annual fee of RM24 for Public Bank VISA Electron. It will be automatically waived if you charge RM1000 into the card in a year.

Applied the Alliance Platinum Debit Card today.
Like to 1.5% rebate.
Hate the RM12 annual fee. And this fee is charged upfront. Deducted from me on the first day.
Has anybody tried asking for waiver of annual fees on Debit Cards?
You can easily get your RM12 back if you're a big spender. RM12 is nothing really as most of us do pay RM8 for our ATM cards that do not offer us any kind of rewards or cash back scheme.

If banks can waive the annual fee for Credit Cards, then why don't the banks waive the annual fees for Debit Card?
Because it is categorized as a fee-based product i suppose ? And also the fact that they can't you charge you interest because you'll be using your own funds when you swipe the card ?

can somebody confirm that MAS don't accept debit card as payment for purchasing online tickets? i tried with my RHB cash connect and PB Day2Day card but both are rejected vmad.gif
Not sure about RHB Bank Cash Connect Mastercard but Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit should be fine. My friends have used PBB D2D VISA debit to pay for MAS tickets online many times. Have you registered for "Verified by VISA" ?

how about citibank debit card? It stated zero cost.
Other than Maybank, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank also offer FREE debit cards. However, please note that T&C apply. For example :

Citibank Citibanking ATM/VISA debit card (blue color), you will be charged RM8 for the issuance for the card. There is no annual fee whatsoever. As for Citibank Citigold ATM/VISA debit card (gold color), it is totally free !

For Standard Chartered Bank debit card, only certain types of accounts that offer FREE debit card such as :
- Basic Savings Account
- Senior Save Account
The Priority Banking VISA debit card is totally FREE too.

Yes. You can use it to withdraw for cash or just swipe it at the cash terminal.

do you get any points or rebate using the above scb dc?
I used to have Standard Chartered debit Mastercard. It came with my e$aver savings account and i paid RM8/pa for it and no. It doesn't give you any cash back and neither does it have any point accumulation program.

In RHB website, they say that card can be used for online transaction. SO what is the error message given by paypal?
Most likely the card is blocked for Paypal, just like Maybank Cherry VISA debit card when it was introduced last year. Maybank Cherry VISA debit card can't be used on Paypal until about 3 weeks after Public Bank introduced the Day2Day VISA debit card in May this year.

Yes. You can. You will need to walk in though. Only their savings/current account holders can set up their PBeBanking account over the ATM.
