AFAIK, all banks are required by BNM to provide basic savings account with ATM without any fee
for rhb, it's here you'll just need to insist on that option no matter what the staff told you, ask to see the manager if the staff refuse to grant that option my sister in law recently opened a islamic savings account with MBB and got herself a debit card - the staff insisted that she'll need to pay RM8 annual fees even though she clearly ask for the non fee ATM option. The staff even said each debit transaction will be counted as a withdrawal - what a nonsense. Even so, if the customer are willing to pay RM0.50 for each extra transaction above the 4 free withdrawals, they should just grant the no annual fee option. i wrote to BNM to complain and she got her RM8 back after a few days, plus a letter from that particular MBB branch apologizing for the so call "misunderstanding" you'll need to stand your ground, if you know you are correct This post has been edited by alexwsk: Jul 11 2010, 09:07 PM |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 11 2010, 10:06 PM) However, they are still some banks that charge a one-time ATM card issuance fee for their Basic Savings Account such as Citibank (waived for Citigold) and OCBC Bank. as long as it's one time, it's still acceptable to mei thk most or all of the local banks offered free ATM card for BSA holders |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 16 2010, 01:25 PM) Yes. It's RM20. But since we can also make the transfer right into out bank account, it's better to do so as the charge is so much lower at only RM3 (free if the total fund transferred to your Malaysian bank account is at least RM400). yup, that's what I'll doso I wonder why anyone would like to withdraw to debit/credit card |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Aug 4 2010, 01:52 PM) Debit card is a good solution to avoid RM50 credit card tax. most if not all of the credit card has better rewards than debit cardIt can earn rebate/reward point as credit card does. The only difference is the CREDIT (= future money ) LOLz. else i'll jump ship straight away |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Aug 4 2010, 02:01 PM) Can you please share with us what those better rewards are? Just some examples:To my knowledge , most credit card reward points are worth RM1 for 200 pts. AMEX Gold CC gives 2.5% for petrol, groceries and few other stuff, 1% for the rest PBB has lots of cash back promo - subject to tnc, ranging from 8% to 12% Debit card normally can't match those |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Aug 23 2010, 08:11 PM) For Public Bank, ATM and Cash Deposit Terminals only work between 6am - 12am. As why you weren't able to use the cash deposit terminal this morning. Most likely the terminal was already full of cash then. Most of the time:PBB ATM - out of cash on Sunday PBB Cash - full of cash on Sunday I wonder when will we get those double functions ATM which can withdraw and deposit at the same machine |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Aug 23 2010, 10:07 PM) You mean like those Bank of America machines eh ? I believe those machines are freakingly expensive. Much more expensive than those mono function ATM we have here in Malaysia. A separate ATM for different use is cheaper, if i'm not mistaken. Yea, I thk Bank of China also have thosethose machines can help to prevent full of cash for CDM and out of cash for ATM, as ppl can put in money and some other ppl can take out |

Last two weeks I rejected the free credit card offered by Maybank, because I've just bought a car using Maybank loan. Thinking I have no purpose to get a credit card. Been advised not to get it unless very2 important. |

QUOTE(Ch1nGFuX @ Sep 14 2010, 05:42 PM) I need to ask a few questions, pardon if these had been answered already; 70 pages of ctrl + f ain't fun... why do u need ctrl+F1. Does any current debit card work with both iTunes and PayPal at least? I don't mind some extra features. 2. If you're a user of a debit which works for at least iTunes and PayPal; please rate it from 1 to 10 or comment on why is it so good; or so crappy. That's all I have for now, thanks in advance for any helpful replies :3 there's a search at the left corner of the last post |

QUOTE(sg552 @ Oct 8 2010, 05:53 PM) Hello everyone, maybank does not have standalone debit card, it must be link to an savings/current accountI have questions regarding Maybank2u and their Maybankard Visa Debit. This is my requirement: I can interbank transfer online. (eg: Maybank to Bank Islam) I can use Maybank2u online to send money to my friends from the same bank (maybank to maybank.) Can I do this with just Maybank Debit Card and apply maybank2u online banking? No need to open savings account? For your information I have tried this before with Public Bank Visa Electron Debit card and link with my pbeonline banking but their online banking can't do interbank or same bank (public bank to public bank) transaction. I call their customer support they tell me to open savings account. Thanks in advance, |
