it is better select the one which has branch at country u study.
by the way, for maybank normally u can get yo debit card on the spot once u open a saving account. but on the spot card normally will not 'printed' yo name on the card.

based on http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/images/d2d_benefits.pdf
it stated "u can withdrawl casrh at all domestic & overseas ATM wherever u see the PLUS or VISA logo.
**Except at ATM of LIFB (Locally Incorporated Foreign banks) in malaysia

i think this should be the reason.

i think like this

-local bank ATM -can
-LIFB ATM -cannot
-oversea bank ATM with PLUS or visa -can

corect me if i m wrong.

3% actually is merchant's fee for visa/mastercard but they 'transfer' the 3% to customer.

yes , I missed that 0.8%.

my correction:

before 7 Dec
1 % cash back spent on petrol & grocery. But max cash back is RM30 per month.
0.3% on other retail purchases.

after 7 Dec
0.8% cash back spent on petrol & grocery.
0.3 % on other retail purchases.

My debit card can be use at ATM and CDT one or two months ago...both also can login. Now i try at ATM and CDT at my town, both display as invalid card...then i go to try public bank ATM and CDT at other town (20KM away sweat.gif ), ATM can be use and withdraw but CDT display invalid card. Wondering what happening as i only use the card for 6 months and i usually put the card inside plastic card case, only use less than 10 times since i apply and get it. Maybe next time i need to direct withdraw through bank counter at my town rclxub.gif

If I apply PB Visa Electron online, can I use my scanner to scan my IC and the signed application form then submit through email?
*
not recommanded as email is not 100% safe, it may explore yo application information and yo scaned IC.

for swipe at petrol kiosk, you'll need RM180-RM200 per swipe if not mistaken
for swipe at merchant terminal with signature, shud be able to swipe whatever you have in the account minus the minimum balance required for that account
*
yes. but (at least RM180-RM200 ) + amount of petrol
however, buy with one preset amount at and swipe at counter , RM180-RM200 not required.

RM200 will be hold until they clear the exact amount.
Not quite right. Only a total amount of RM200 will be temporary deducted from your account. The remaining balance will be refunded to you in a few days.
Correct. Pump first, pay later inside and you will only need to pay the exact amount pumped.
*
yup. i mean hold amount only that 180-200, but amount of petrolpumped is direct deducted from account. so i said (180-200) + petrol amount.

QUOTE(MNet @ Dec 21 2009, 03:49 PM)
why they need hold rm200 ?
any rational?
*
pay at counter just like when u go shopping, u buy something cost something, no 'hold ' needed.
but pay petrol pump side, the terminal is not same .

u either pay at
1. machine near pump, kiosk machine
or
2. go to the 'building' pay at counter, terminal machine

I'm planning to apply a debit card soon but I don't know the differences between,

Maybankard MasterCard Platinum Debit

and

Maybankard Visa Debit

The Platinum debit requires Premier Account while the Visa requires any savings/current account.

I've tried the "Find the right account" that the website provided and I ticked College/Uni students and Online accounts and it leads me to Maybank2u.Premier.

I realized that it's a current account but I think I don't need a current account since I am just a student.

So if I just open a saving account then I can apply the Visa Debit while the current account can get me a Platinum Debit.

I'm still a University student so which one would suit me the most?
*
I am prefer visa debit for students.
