Oh, btw Miles, is there any charge if I want to withdraw any amount from my PBVE at the ATM?
Thanks.
No charge at all. You will need to withdraw it as cash advance but no worries, it is not a cash advance actually. When you are at the ATM, select cash advance and it will automatically dispense RM200 or RM250 but then the last time i did it was back in December 2007. Not sure if anything has changed since then.

So, how come Amazon didn't cancel my order like CK? Why CK is that strict on this matter? sad.gif Sedih..
This thing only applied to debit card? What about credit?

It is the same with both debit and credit card. AMAZON can process your order because they do accept foreign credit and debit card. CK on the other hand, most likely can't process a foreign issued credit and debit card.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Nov 1 2009, 09:21 PM)
Hm, meaning that we can't get anything from CKJeans?
If they cannot process any non-US issued credit and debit card. Then the answer is no. Unless you can get a US issued credit or debit card.

I see.. Now I understood. Thanks again =)
How to get a US issued credit or debit card?
Is it possible for us to do so even if we live here?
For us to get a US Credit card is impossible. Because we have no credit score history in the USA and a US bank can only issue you a credit card if you have a credit score history. One builds up his credit score rating initially by using a debit card. That is how it work in the USA.

As for debit card ... No. I don't think that is possible. There are some threads here in lowyat.net about how you need to pay RMxxx first and then they will send you a package and they will help you to open an account at one of the four largest banks in USA namely Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank. HSBC is also listed. But then i do not think that is true smile.gif

I personally think it is a fraud. I do not believe in it.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Nov 2 2009, 03:25 AM)
Wow, there's a credit score rating there? How's in Malaysia? Any rating given based on transactions done?
Oh, about 'paying some, get the card later'. I came across the topic somewhere before but not really interested that time.
We do have credit score rating here too. But the difference is that here in Malaysia, one will be able to get a loan or a credit card from any banks in Malaysia as long as our credit score rating stored in Bank Negara is clear.

In the USA, even if your credit score is clear but you have never taken any forms of loan before. Your credit score will show "no history" and the bank will reject your application right away.

12. And if you're still 18, you will need one of your parents to sign some papers before they can issue you the debit card.

u can use US proxy server setting to act as US IP address
Won't work. Because PBVE is a non-US card. While one might be able to manipulate the IP address, he/she can't manipulate the card's billing address. They will be able to find out which bank and country is the card issued from.

Just a note to all Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card users. You can now set your preferred daily purchase limit at any Public Bank ATM nationwide. The lowest amount is RM0 and the highest is RM5000. Previously it was all set at RM2000 per day maximum and you can't change it.

This is applied only to cards linked to a saving account? What about PBVE?

This only applies to PBB D2D VISA.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Nov 5 2009, 07:21 PM)
My younger bro is still in school, and he's been asking my parents to get him one. Can we set a limit to his card?

PBB D2D VISA should suits him fine. Just help him to open a savings account at Public Bank and request for the Day2Day VISA debit card.

Your parents can always set the daily withdrawal limit as well as the VISA purchasing limit. But then, since this is his card and he knows the PIN number, he can always change the limit at any Public Bank ATM nationwide.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Nov 5 2009, 07:21 PM)
I mean, what if he spend more than he should for a month?
Besides, he's still in school tongue.gif
That's easy ! Don't give him too much money and make sure he doesn't have a lot of money in his savings account laugh.gif Do not have to worry he will overspend as this is just a debit card not a credit card. He will only be able to use his own money inside the bank.

Okay ! For example when you give your debit card to the hotel and they are asking for a deposit for RM5,000, then you need to make sure you have RM5,000 inside the card or else it won't go through.

As for credit card, you just need to make sure you still have sufficient credit line. Another thing is that we won't really notice when they hold our money for deposit if we are using credit card because it won't even be reflected in our account. Only the final amount will be shown in our credit card statement whereas with a debit card, you will see from your online banking account or ATM balance that RM5,000 has been temporary deducted off your account.

Hey Miles where do you get these infos? Such as the change of spending limit for the pbb day2day card.

About we can change the VISA purchasing limit ? Found out from their ATM. This feature was not previously available. Last time we were only allowed to change the daily withdrawal limit.

QUOTE(Mozilla-Firefox @ Nov 6 2009, 01:58 AM)
So technically I can spend 10k a day right? If both my withdrawal and spending limit are set to 5k. And if the spending limit has increased , what's the default amount set in the card?
No. It is RM5,000 only even if both are set to RM5,000. Let say you have withdrawn RM2,000 of cash today from the ATM, you are allowed to swipe/charge another RM3,000 to your D2D VISA.

The same thing also applies to Maybank Cherry VISA debit card and Citibank Citibanking VISA debit card/Citibank Citigold VISA debit card.

QUOTE(Mozilla-Firefox @ Nov 6 2009, 01:58 AM)
Miles I have encounter errors during entering my debit card into the ATM and cash deposit machine. Sometimes it's said card not verified then it returns my card. But sometimes it works fine. What could have cause this? It's a real burden to insert the acc number manually.
That's because certain Public Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) can't read your ATM card. This is most likely because their staff did not enable the chip card reader function. The particular Public Bank branch i frequent has 3x cash deposit terminals (CDT) and only 1x of the 3x can read my ATM card.

I have also encountered the same problem with Maybank where only some of their cash deposit terminals (CDT) can read our ATM cards and the rest can't. For those Maybank cash deposit terminals (CDT) that can read our ATM cards, we have to key in our PIN number before we can proceed which i think is ABSURD ! I mean come on ! I just want to deposit some money into the account and not withdrawing. Why the heck do you need my PIN number for ? How troublesome. RHB Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) also requires us to enter our ATM card PIN number before we can proceed (only if you insert your ATM card into the ATM card slot) doh.gif

For your information, for those Public Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) with the ATM chip card reader enabled, you won't have to key in your PIN number before you are allowed to proceed. Same goes to all CIMB Bank, HSBC and Standard Chartered cash deposit terminals(CDT).

1% cash back on petrol & glocery valid til 7 December , after that it will be 0.3% only. after december , donno wat promotion they will give, since cc service tax issue happened.
Should be 0.8% for petrol and groceries after the promotional period ends. All others transaction will get only 0.3%.

and which one is easier to get??i mean fast to get because i dont have much time in malaysia since i study oversea..juz coming back holidays for 2 weeks only..thanks
Both banks will issue the debit card on the spot when you open an account with them.

Miles, about the Atm Withdrawal for my pbb day2day why can't I withdraw cash from bank like this citibank hsbc etc etc. Does this means I'm unable to withdraw money overseas? Could you list down banks that I can't withdraw money from. Thanks
future80 is right. When you are overseas, you just need to look for ATM that has either VISA or PLUS logo on displayed. Basically any ATM overseas will be able to read your PBB D2D VISA.

Hey miles. So now which debit card do you think is the best?
I think they all are more or less the same. But in terms of reward system, i think Maybank Cherry debit card is the worst because of the RM3 = 1TP only.

RHB Bank Cash-Connect debit Mastercard is pretty good as it gives 0.5% cash back but the annual fee is a bit high at RM15/pa sad.gif

Why the Alliance debit card need to charge Rm12 annual fee?
I own 2 atm cards now and I don't need to pay any annual fees. So, I feel like paying fees is like milking us.

Most ATM cardholders in Malaysia do pay annual fees for their ATM cards.

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Nov 9 2009, 07:04 PM)
Are there any debit cards with high rebates, and don't charge annual fees?
Maybank and Citibank are the only two banks that offer free VISA debit card (and also debit Mastercard for Maybank). Citibank Citibanking customers however, will have to pay one time issuance fee of RM8.

QUOTE(future80 @ Nov 9 2009, 09:52 PM)
do u mean yo ATM cards dont need to pay RM8 per year also?
That's because he/she is using Basic Savings Account. As far as i am concerned, EON Bank is the only bank that charge ATM card annual fee to their Basic Savings Account holder.

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Nov 9 2009, 10:43 PM)
Yea, I have 2 ATM cards. Don't need to pay annual fee.
1 is Maybank, 1 is from HSBC.
I believe the HSBC account is a Basic Savings Account but please bear in mind you are only allowed to make 8 free withdrawals in a month and subsequent withdrawals will attract a penalty of RM1.

As for Maybank, you are only allowed 4 free withdrawals per month and subsequent withdrawals you will be charged RM0.50.

Miles, I need to make payment to a company. Which option should I choose at PBE online?
Is it payment/recharge or funds transfer? Thank you..
Should be fund transfer. But is the company listed in the PBB payee list ? If you want to transfer the money directly to the said company bank account, then it should be fund transfer. For bill payment should be "Payment/Recharge".
