QUOTE(radmaszeal @ Dec 2 2009, 06:42 PM) turner got bling factor for those that know it. exclusive mah. like maverick, ellsworth, lynskey, ibis, pivot, intense, chumba Wah... I am impressed you know so many brands. Ha! Ha! Ha!ask ppl who dunno american brands except santa cruz of cos they think no bling its like exotic cars. u ask if they know ferrari they think bling edi, but they might not know pagani, gumpert, bugatti. that doesnt make the pagani/gumpert/bugatti any less bling, only not bling for the ignorant only There are so many others... why didn't you finish all? From all the names you mentioned... Worth looking ones only Ibis, Pivot, Intense... The rest? Well, yeah, they are Bugatti for you... but if it is not in the best bike in it's category... what's the purpose? What is the purpose of having the most expensive car in the world... Bugatti... but only attracts male in return? Don't think xand fancy BBM though... |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 2 2009, 10:58 PM) Ha! Ha! Ha! U donno ma... in Kiara... all the chicks eyes "tiong" you when u ride ur bike... QUOTE(radmaszeal @ Dec 2 2009, 11:13 PM) i didnt do mountain biking to attract chicks. besides, all the sun burn is quite a big put off for them. So, it goes back to Santa Cruz... Whether it is Driver8 or V10 or Blur.i joined dodgeball cos of the chicks Added on December 2, 2009, 11:17 pm it was an analogy. besides, "Best bike" in category is high subjective. some bike companies dont have alot of money to sponsor riders to championships, that doesnt mean they dont make "the best bikes". when it comes to top level competition, what's more important is the setup of the bike. GT is known to have relatively heavy i drive suspension systems, but that didnt stop brian lopes from winning. also, most important to winning competitions is the rider, not the frame. another thing is, driver 8 isnt the best in its category. its just a freeride bike. if u wanted best in DH category then that would be the v10. another thing. i would think that by having a Bugatti i wouldnt have any problems attracting chicks. Anyway, it is not that we wanna put other options aside... just that, in Malaysia, you only have Merida if not Merida... |

Imagine... when climbing half dead... and got one unker walk on one side, another auntie walk down on the other side...
You got 2 choices... Stop cycling and slowly navigate through... (chicks say you no good) Or cycle fast and navigate through like a snake... (chicks' Ah Mah say you no family teaching)... And of course, whether your legs an coupe or not. Then... when downhill time... you wanna go a bit faster... but you scared got one ah pek there... So... overall, in FRIM, u will get this kinda bosongness. |

Your road bike sample is more accurate than your Konek Stinky...
Based on the argument here, stress angle on fork will cause the head to crack = possible. Stress angle on fork causes middle of the frame to crack = not possible. No matter how, look at the commercial and manufacturing side of the story. A 140mm fork will cause a 100mm frame to crack? My personal opinion = No. If the frame design is so lousily done... you shouldn't use it even for 100mm. Anyhow, it is only a very personal opinion. Millions of people in this world are playing around with the fork travel. Do a google search how many complain about fork travel = crack head.... We should get a clear answer. |

Film? He! He! He! For xandman... If you put DH fork on your XC bike, ur bike will still move and still be able to bring you from point A to B. But if you say jump from top of the hill, whether fork A or fork B, ur XC frame will still give way. And this is for xandman... Some like black... some like red... how about white? QUOTE(radmaszeal @ Dec 3 2009, 09:18 PM) xc frames are meant to be light. has less gussets and reinforcement welds between head tube and top&down tubes. frames designed for longer travel (not xc frames) have more gussets and welds around the head tube area. Again, in theory, a lot of things cannot do one.if u look hard enough on the internet, there have been alot of cases of cracked head tubes due to ppl playing around with the fork travel. i know of a few ppl who have had hairline fractures happen to their frames too. and almost all frame manufacturers state the max travel fork their frame is designed for, if a longer travel fork is used then the frame warranty would be void. not every1 can afford to replace their frames easily, so my advice to mousepad87 is to not change it. ultimately, the decision is up to him, and whatever consequences are his. anyways, if the torque is acting in a forward (outward direction), and the down tube is flexy enough to allow head tube movement without cracking itself(which is generally possible, since the down tube is usually butted, thus more flexy), the the bottom of the top tube will undergo tensile (pulling apart) stress, leading to the crack on the stinky. that means the head tube in itself is strong enough, but the stress concentration at other parts in the surrounding area lead to failure. i wouldnt want to mislead some1 and tell them to go for whatever travel they want, and then something happens to the frame. that would just be irresponsible. I sell diesel engines. If really wanna follow the manufacturing guidelines, one of my engine need to top engine oil of 1litre every hour. Ha! Ha! Ha! Of course, this is their so called guide. But in term of safety and manufacturing standards in this world... American companies tend to be more traditional and leave a lot of room to play whereas European companies tend to use to the max of their product. And if someone really listen to any of our guide here without doing their own research... well, too bad for him/her. After all, LYN is supposed to be an IT based forum and I am only 12 yrs old. He! QUOTE(dickybird @ Dec 3 2009, 09:43 PM) i bet you dont sell alot of that model of diesel engine right? hehe. diesel engine for industry is it? interesting. Ha! Ha! Ha! Not really. One of the biggest selling model in Malaysia. But heck... it is not true though... QUOTE(radmaszeal @ Dec 3 2009, 09:46 PM) in the design process, usually safety factor is used, or fatigue life. He! He! He! OK la... ok la. Don't disturb with your engineering study.higher safety factor=more material=more strength. but then that just defeats the purpose of a lightweight xc frame. if u want high safety factor with low weight, use a titanium frame. and if by buying the fork and cracking the frame is what u meant by the words "doing own research" is , imho its quite an expensive research. and potentially dangerous. and again, the decision is up to him. i think i've said enough about this particular issue, and any further argument would be pointless. We all no sikul one. He! he! He! |
